For our first weeb Wednesday I have chosen two different movies, Perfect Blue and the rotoscoped film Waking Life. Today We take a look at these films and the animation style with how it aids the films. They are on completely different spectrums of animation and assist their stories in amazing ways

We start with Perfet Blue which came out in 1997 from Satoshi Kon this film is about Mina, a pop star, leaving music to act. With reality changing Mina isshaken. Life begins to blur and obsession takes place. The film really pushes its boundaries on showing a dark story through such an intriguing style. The Voice Actors are incredible and really envelop you into the story.

Our Second film is Waking Life came out in 2001. It is an increlible film from Richard Linklater. What makes this filn Unique is its animation style. Rotoscoping scenes involve filming and then animation over the initial film. Waking Life is a film based around existentialism amd the art provides a great dreamlike feel. With good acting and a story that really makes you think deep into existence and who we are. Definitely a movie for lovers of deep thought film.

Well I hope you have enjoyed the look into Perfect Blue and Waking Life. If you haven't had a chance to check either out give it a chance, you never know it could become a favorite.

Welcome to Terror Tuesday! Today, I'm going to review a film that came out during the Utra Horror era in France. Though Martys fits into Ultra horror like a glove there are layers to it as well as a purpose if you look past the darkness.

Directed by Pascal Laugier, Martyrs is a tale of pain, love, and Faith. What comes with this when we meet Lucy and Anna as childrenis hard to explain. I've always the message revolved through the actions of others and what they felt best for themselves.

As a foreign horror film, it does have boundaries its not afraid to cross and can be quite brutal at times, if you can see past that though, and think about the pain some of our character's feel these actions have porpose.

This film is a great exposition of the human conflict within. Good horror makes us look at ourselves and ask question. As humans our nature is brutality in many ways. Not a film for children but one I recommend to anyone looking for an intriguing (and dark) horror film!!

Thank you for checking out Terror Tuesday everyone!!!!! Please like and share amd give some comments let me know what yall be thinking 😉

Director Monday - Today we talk about some of the most influential, in my opinion, film directors, Today I will start witha favorite of mine Stanley Kubrick.
Kubricks most Notable films for sure would be 2001 A Space Odyssey, Full Metal Jacket, The Shining ( of cours) The beloved Dr. Strange love or: How I learned to stop worrying and Fell in love w/ the bomb. Known for Stop his critical outlook on certain aspects of life he was not afraid to show this in works such as Lo**ta and Dr. Strangelove for sure.

What really sets Kubrick apart in his era was how he used the camera, He could make a scene look like a painting such as Barry Lyndon or A Clockwork Orange even in the darkness. The way he centered shots, or creat ways he would use the Camera for instance anti gravity shots for 2001( making a mouse wheel basically for humans).

One thing I Can Say is if you pay attention nods to this director are all over the place. Hal pops up quite often in science fiction. To end this I will say a quote fron Stanley Kubaik "A Film is- or It should be- more like music than fiction. It should be a progression of moods and feelings. The theme, whats behind the emotion, all that comes later" I truly believe the best films utilize & emotion & tell a story through this. Kubrick truly understood how to be ahead of his time.

Thank you all for the read on a favorite of mine and more to come every monday.

George Millers Furiosa and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes both come out this coming May. Talk about exciting! Not only do we get to see another trip in the wasteland from Miller, but the remake of the Apes films turned out to be extremely well done. So, for them to continue the rebooted franchise just makes May an exciting Month for me. Any films you all are looking forward to?

I thought to make a first impression why not do a review on a film that made a big impact on the action world.

The Raid Redemption

Here we have a film that from the start seems to be a simple cops take the bad guys down scenario. What made this so unique is how the action was done. Choosing to go with a simple plot and focus on the action director Gareth Evans utilized high impact scenes in tight spaces. With that he created long drawn-out fight scenes that would be one take roughly or at least appear to be.

Now this may not seem like a big deal but the utilization of Iko Uwais (our lead hero) and the tight camera work makes the simple plot seem so much more impactful.

Of course, like any film you will always small errors and this one is just around simple CGI work which is pretty few and far between.

When this released in 2011 it truly changed how action films were looked at, finding a brutal and realistic medium to film in and in turn gave us many of the action films we love today such as John Wick, Sicario, The Night Comes for Us.

Hope you enjoyed the first of many reviews to come and please spread the word. Not sure if I'm settle on the name just yet but we shall see :)
