Happy May Day! This is 16 year old Mary Svetich Rozman in 1917. She was Queen of the May for the May Day parade in Calumet, Michigan. Obviously, this would be an ideal social distancing dress.
According to Mary’s granddaughter, Cathy Rozman, “The trick to this float is that she’s standing on a car underneath the giant skirt! Afterward, her family liked to tease her with the nickname ‘Queenie.'”
