A major zoning change could reshape the future of a Rainier Beach property located less than a quarter-mile from the light rail station.

Seattle City Council voted unanimously this week to increase building height limits on the site, creating the potential for more affordable housing. But despite the upzone, Mt Baker Housing says the affordable housing project once envisioned there is not a current priority and could still be at least a decade away.

Meanwhile, construction is beginning on the Tubman Center for Health & Freedom's future wellness facility, which is expected to serve thousands of patients annually.
