“Happy Friday! Today we release the first single off the Genuine Veneer lp by Le Sang Song. Check out one of our favorites - 4_30!

At Swingline HQ, we’re affectionally referring to this album as the “Lost” album. These songs were recorded almost a decade ago when Le Sang Song was playing out regularly and getting deserved attention for these songs. As we all know life happens and then next thing you know, you have a kid, Covid hits and life moves on. Last year while working on the Lights Beautiful Bird lp release, Engineer Sean Lennon (mastered Beautiful Bird and Genuine Veneer) mentioned the album and that we really needed to check it out and consider releasing it. After Ben and I received the mastered files, it didn’t take long to get hooked on these songs. My initial favorites were 4_30 and Aged Rogue, but over repeated listening’s I fell in love with all the songs. Ben and I felt very strongly that this album need to be released to the public. Hello Swingliners!

Big news coming later this week! On Friday we’ll release the first single from the Le Sang Song (Craig from the Lights other band with Adria Garcia and Min Yee (A-Frames)).

Bands/Releases that I’m really into lately:
- Super XX Man - Rusted Hues - superxxman.bandcamp.com/album/rusted-hues - Scott from Super XX Man was also in Silver Scooter and has the distinction of being the first release on the Swingline almost 30 years ago. Rusted Hues is the latest in long list of releases by Super XX Man... it’s definitely my favorite and in high rotation. Hopefully you can see them in one of their shows this summer (I think they just played Moscow Idaho and Pendleton Oregon).
- TV Star - upcoming album - I’ve been listening to an advanced copy of their new lp and holy s**t it is good (as Ben said “sounds like a 4AD band). One of my favorite local bands. I’m going to see them this Saturday at the Tractor Tavern with Coral Grief. tvstar.bandcamp.com

Next year it will be 30 years since I started the first version of the Swingline Records!! I moved to Seattle in 1995 and always had a goal to start a record label (and be the next Sub Pop records)! I knew Scott from our days at WSU and growing up in Clarkston. After college he relocated to Austin and started his new band, Silver Scooter…we kept in touch and eventually talked about putting out a single together. That was how the 1353/1355 single came to be…I love these songs and their simplicity and catchiness…who doesn’t love an Eric’s Trip cover too!!
