32 years ago today, and booked Heatmiser to play at WSU’s CUB Butch’s Den in Pullman, WA with Sugar Daddies, Raspberry and the Exothermics!!
Backstory:
In the fall of 1993, we asked Heatmiser to play with headliner, the incredible FLOP (), at Butch’s Den. We didn’t have a big budget and had spent most of the artist money to bring FLOP to town, so we couldn’t pay Heatmiser very much money to drive the 5+ hours to Pullman. Luckily JJ was able to make it work by booking additional shows to support the band.
Fast forward to Spring of 1994, Frontier Records was preparing to release Yellow No. 5 ep by Heatmiser. As the school year was winding down, we found that there was a decent amount of budget $ left to host one more show for the 93-94 school year. We immediately contacted JJ about coming back to Pullman for a return gig as headliner with a bigger paycheck. I’m not sure if they booked any other gigs to/from the Pullman show (I don’t see our show listed on elliottsmithdiscography.com). With most of our show budget allocated to Heatmiser, we went to our friend’s bands to round out the bill. .tothelash

These two handsome gentlemen are Will and Coach. I have known them both for a very long time... 5th grade I think? Way longer than I would care to admit. We are from the same tiny town, Raymond WA. Home of the mighty Seagulls, moss, lumber, oysters, fish ... not a whole lot else to be honest. Well that is until recently when these heroes opened Vinyl Tap Guitars & Records.

An honest to goodness record store in my home town makes me so very happy. Located less than two blocks from where I bought my first piece of music with money saved from cleaning up roofing job sites for a dollar an hour ... an 8-track of "London Calling" from Tambellini's drug store (long gone). They are selling our records. We are so stoked. You should go buy stuff from them... it doesn't even have to be one of our records... anything will do. Make them rich!
