Sciworthy By Blue Marble Space Sciworthy is a project by Blue Marble Space. We help you find truth in media by explaining scientific studies in everyday language. No politics - just knowledge.

We envision a world where citizens can freely explore science for themselves. Our mission is to give knowledge-seekers welcoming and transparent explanations of the scientific method in action. What We Do

We summarize scientific studies in easy to understand language, without all the political and emotional biases of news. We are powered by the motivation and passion of volunteers, and supported by the 501(c)(3) non-profit organization Blue Marble Space. We simply tell you about what the scientists did, how they did it, and the results they got. We always link to the original source at the bottom of every article. Our writers are scientists, professionals, and graduate students who are experienced in the subjects they write about. Our Philosophy

We do not and never will rely on advertising revenue. Our content will always be free for you. We make a conscious effort to minimize ideological bias and avoid putting our own interpretations of the science into the article. This is so you can make up your own mind about what you are reading. Our articles are ideal for teachers, students, and lifelong learners.

Our solar system could be tilted due to interactions between the Sun and its temporary twin.

A scientist simulated the early solar system to determine how interactions between the Sun and other stars affected its planetary orbits.

Researchers from Woods Hole and UCLA developed a new, natural method to “mine” rare earth elements from water using seaweed!

Researchers demonstrated that blooms of the free-floating seaweed Sargassum can sustainably extract rare earth elements from water.

Scientists in Australia found that rapid cooling events driven by coastal upwelling have become more frequent and severe over the past decade, impacting marine megafauna.

Researchers identified trends in extreme cold events that can push migratory animals, such as bull sharks, beyond their thermal tolerance and sometimes cause death.

Scientists modeled the newly built Vera Rubin Observatory to determine how many incoming impactors it could detect before they struck Earth.

Scientists simulated a telescope with the same specifications as the new Vera Rubin Observatory. They predicted it could detect 1 to 2 asteroids per year on a collision course with Earth.

Researchers from the University of Pennsylvania and Tulane University found that a specialized group of pain-sensing neurons, called TRPV1+, plays a role in detecting and fighting off parasitic worms in mice.

Researchers discovered a parasitic worm that reduces mice’s ability to feel pain by suppressing the activity of pain-sensing neurons in their skin.

Nearly 170 billion tons of ice melt off the Greenland Ice Sheet every year, but scientists don’t fully understand the process by which this melting occurs. Researchers in the UK proposed a new model for how ice sheets melt, based on observations of subglacial lakes.

Scientists who observed a glacier collapse in Greenland proposed a new model for how ice sheets melt, via water flowing both upward and down.
