PhinneyWood-based Favorite Day Media is growing up and thinking big, while staying rooted in the neighborhood where it began.

Founded by Phinney Ridge resident Chad Frerichs, Favorite Day Media grew out of an effort to support local businesses during the pandemic. Six years later, the local agency is growing and reaching well beyond the neighborhood. Frerichs continues working with and advising PhinneyWood business owners while helping bring more small businesses to the neighborhood.

Fall registration is now open at Dance Fremont!

Celebrating 30 years of dance education in Seattle, Dance Fremont offers ballet and modern dance classes for youth and adults in an inclusive, welcoming environment above Cocoa Legato at 85th & Greenwood.

Classes begin September 9, and registration is now open.

FamilyWorks is gearing up for its annual Back-to-School event and is asking the community to help local students start the school year with the supplies they need.

Last year, the organization provided 210 students with backpacks filled with school supplies. This year, FamilyWorks is currently seeking donations of new, unused items, including wired headphones, water bottles, and high school backpacks.

The Gumshoe 5K is officially underway, and there's still time to join the hunt.

Participants can register, pick up an entry form, and solve 30 clues across Phinney Ridge, Greenwood, and Green Lake through August 23. Organizers have also hidden collectible Gumshoe coffee mugs along the route for lucky participants to find.

PhinneyWood families looking for a new activity this fall have a chance to try climbing for free.

Half Moon Bouldering is hosting two Youth Open Houses on August 19 and August 26 from 4–6 p.m., giving kids ages 5+ the opportunity to explore the gym, climb with instructors, and learn more about upcoming youth programs. No experience is required.

Grab the leash and bring your pup out for an afternoon making your way through Greenwood, with stops at RidgeWood Bottle & Tap, Holy Mountain, and Phinney Station.

Expect pup cups, pet portraits, local vendors, a doggy splash pad, treats, activities, and—as promised—plenty of adorable chaos.

RidgeWood Bottle & Tap: Noon–1 p.m.
Holy Mountain: 1:15–2:15 p.m.
Phinney Station: 2:30–5 p.m.
