Halfway through the year, I started a new job as the Public Information Officer for the Seattle Fire Department. My responsibility is to speak on behalf of the firefighters and paramedics that serve this city. While informing the community of significant incidents that displace residents and compromise public safety. The Fall Firefighter Memorial was built in remembrance of the Pang Fire that took the lives of four firefighters. The stones that lay beside them are etched with the names of every Seattle firefighter and paramedic that made the ultimate sacrifice. On a cold winter evening the park is lit with holiday lights that reflect off the rain soaked cobblestone bricks that surround the memorial. It becomes a place of reflection, a place of solace.
