Boxing Footwork 1 of 5 – The Switch Step ⬇️

• The switch step lets you change angles “instantly” while protecting yourself on the way in
• It’s one of the most important footwork tools for boxers, especially when you need to close distance safely and explode into range.

Hammer Tire Work for Boxing ⬇️

This is one of my favorite finishers after a full boxing session and not just for building power, but especially control and endurance.

I’m not just standing there bashing the tire straight up and down. This is how I do it real boxing-style:
• Stand in your boxing stance, not squared to the tire
• Slam the hammer 2–3 times, nice and controlled
• On the last hit, let the hammer swing forward
• Use that momentum to switch sides, like a stance switch
• Rear foot becomes lead, just like you’d reset after a counter
• Slam it down again like a cross, full rotation
• Finish with knees bent and rear foot turned, like a clean punch

I do this after my training for 6–8 rounds of 3 minutes.

And you wonder why after training?

Because that’s when you’re tired and it forces you to hold your form, push through, and stay explosive when your body wants to shut down.

If you’re a fighter well, train like one champ 🫵

Close Quarters Boxing Combo ⬇️

This combo is all about flow and torque. The key is to transfer your weight with every shot. Every punch should have intent, especially when you’re in the pocket.

Combo breakdown:
• Roll - you’re in the pocket, so don’t be rigid
• Rear Body Hook - roll the shoulder and then load the rear hip and fire a heavy hook into the ribs
• Left Hook Upstairs - use the rebound from the body shot to whip the lead hook to the head
• Right Hook - follow immediately with a compact right hook and keep it tight
• Minimal stance readjust - a tiny foot/torsion reset, don’t reset big, just enough to stay solid
• Left Hook Upstairs - snap it back from the lead side
• Right Body Hook - dig that rear hook into the ribs again by pushing through with your legs
• Right Hook or Overhand Right - come back upstairs right away with the same rear hand and commit your weight for impact to finish it off
• Exit (step back / reset) - get out of the pocket, high guard up and ready for the next sequence

My Favorite Boxing Combo From Plant ⬇️

Now, I did modify it a little because I like to be on the safe side and not over-commit or rely too much on that Slip for the combo to work so I use my Jab to initiate the sequence. But this combo was really inspired by this great boxer, Caleb Plant, and it’s based on a K.O. finish he had against one of his opponents.

The Breakdown Combination:
• Jab
• Slip
• Liver Shot
• Cover and Slip Again
• Powerful Left Hook to Finish the Job
Dip and Roll Back to Reset Stance 🥊

Advanced Boxing Combo | Guard Opener ⬇️

This combo is all about level changes and rhythm. You go high, low, high and constantly breaking your opponent’s guard. Every roll and dip loads your next punch that’s what makes it elite champ.

Combo Breakdown:

• High Guard - start composed, ready to block or parry any counter on the way in
• Jab - establish range and test the guard
• Rear Uppercut - bring that rear hand straight up the middle, and this can clip the chin or open the guard for what comes next
• Liver Shot - drive your lead hand deep into the body, shifting weight to your front side
• Shield - with that rear hand block any incoming punches to the temple
• Left Hook - use the momentum from the body punch and the shield to go upstairs
• Dip + Weave - drop levels and roll under to the opposite side to stay safe and prepare for next
• Rear Body Hook - come up with torque from the rear side, digging to the ribs
• Overhand Right - explode up and bring the punch in a diagonal line down
• Final Liver Shot - one more deep body shot to close the show
• Dip Down & Step Back - get safe out of danger zone to reset your stance 🥊

Switch-Step & L-Step in one Sequence ⬇️

First things first, the BEST DEFENSE in Boxing? Not being there.

Switch Step Breakdown:
• Drop your weight slightly into your lead leg
• Bring your rear shoulder in to stay protected
• Step your rear foot forward to replace the lead
• As that happens, kick your lead leg back out and let your hips twist naturally
• Now you’re set to fire a combo or like in this case pivot out clean again with an L-Step

L-Step Breakdown:
• Think of it as a smooth exit to your rear side
• Step out horizontally first (almost like a side step)
• Then finish the “L” shape by stepping forward at an angle
• You can follow up with a counter or just use it to not get caught.

Simple adjustments are key in boxing. It’s a game of inches.
