Day 2 of bear hunting our own property…

Squirrels, squirrels, and more squirrels. This bear cannot make up its mind when to be there and is super hard to pattern. Any tips??

Day 1 of Bear hunting our own property

We now have 3 adult bears coming onto our property! We have been targeting a very large boar that loves this wallow, when this smaller one showed up right before we got into the trees!

No action before it got too dark but we will be consistent!! 🐻

The shop roof has been leaking, so it was time to finally fix it!

In this video, I repair the leaking metal roof on the shop and get it sealed up and ready for the weather. I also spend some time around the property and show a little of the wildlife that has been showing up, including a sow with cubs who love our apple tree, and a large boar frequenting one of our ponds.

The bears definitely deserve their own video, but for this one, the main focus is getting that roof fixed!

Thanks for watching and following along with the property projects!

It’s been 3 months since our last property update, so it’s time to take you around and see what’s been happening!

In this video, I walk around the property, show you the leaking roof on the shop, check in on our firewood situation, and share some of the wildlife that has been showing up around the property.

We also had some unexpected visitors getting into our trash, so I’ve got some trail-camera footage showing the animals that have been hanging around.

GardePro sponsored this video, and we’ve been really impressed with their trail cameras and the footage they’ve captured around the property!

Opening weekend of Washington bear season turned into a hunt we will never forget. After a year of learning, preparing, and pushing deeper into the backcountry, we both harvested bears during our opening weekend bear hunt. This was our biggest harvest yet, and we are still shocked that we were able to experience this together.

Last year, we showed our backcountry hunting journey — the challenges, the lessons learned, and the work it took to become better hunters. This year, all of that preparation came together in an incredible weekend in the mountains.

But this bear hunt was never about trophies.

For us, hunting is about providing our own food, respecting the animal, and staying connected to the land. We believe in using what we harvest, and these bears will help fill our freezer with wild game that will feed us for months to come.

Predator hunting is also an important part of conservation and wildlife management. Responsible hunters help maintain healthy ecosystems while being active stewards of the land and wildlife we care about.

After the hunt, we bring you along for the entire process — from the backcountry bear harvest to processing bear meat and preparing this wild game for our freezer. The work doesn’t end when the hunt is over; that is when the real responsibility begins.

A huge thank you to HISEA for supporting this video. We wore their boots while processing our bears and handling the hard work that comes after a successful hunt. Comfortable, durable gear makes a difference when you are spending long hours outside.

This weekend reminded us why we put in the work, why we spend time in the mountains, and why we are grateful for every opportunity to harvest our own food.

Thank you for following along with our journey.

What an opening weekend. 🐻

We honestly still can’t believe it… both of us were able to harvest bears on opening weekend.

This one is especially special because it was Alexus’ very first bear, a moment we’ll never forget. Seeing all the preparation, scouting, and patience come together made it that much more rewarding. Philip was also fortunate enough to fill his first tag, making it a weekend we’ll be talking about for a long time.

We’re incredibly grateful for the opportunity, for the meat that will fill our freezer, and for the privilege of spending time in God’s creation.

The best part? In Washington, we each have two bear tags, so the season isn’t over yet. We’re excited to get back out there, keep hunting, and hopefully fill our second tags while making even more memories together.

Thank you to everyone who’s been following along and supporting Northwest Untamed. We can’t wait to share the hunts with you! 🐻🌲

When you think you’re just getting cool helicopter footage but the fire is actually right above your house!!!

We are very grateful for first responders that quickly put out 2 small forest fires above our home over the last week. Washington state has some devastating fires going on right now and our hearts are with those who have been more affected than us
