In the wake of its board’s approval of a $10 million office expansion plan, the Guadalupe Appraisal District recently debuted a webpage offering insight into the project.

The board of directors-approved project involves purchasing the Mary B. Erskine campus on College Street in Seguin and reconfiguring the building for the appraisal district’s use.

The plan is to complete renovations and occupy the building by April 2027 before the property tax appeals period. In the meantime, all are welcome to monitor the progress and find details about the project on the webpage. Access the webpage by visiting www.guadalupead.org and click on the 216 E. 🚨News Release: Train Collision 🚨

On November 2, 2025, at approximately 10:12 A.M., the Schertz Police Department was notified of a collision between a train and an 18-wheeler transporting cars at the intersection of Schertz Parkway and FM 78. Upon arrival, emergency personnel discovered that the car hauler had been stopped on the south side of the tracks when it was struck by a westbound train. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the train did not derail.

The intersections of Schertz Parkway and FM 3009 will remain closed for approximately 5 to 6 hours. However, all other intersections along FM 78 will remain open. This incident is currently under investigation, and we are working in collaboration with Union Pacific and various state and federal agencies.

It is crucial to obey warning signs and signals at railroad crossings. These signs are in place to protect drivers by providing essential warnings of approaching trains. Ignoring them can lead to serious, even fatal, consequences. Always remember to stop, look, and listen. Trains cannot stop quickly, but you can. If you find yourself stuck on the tracks, leave your vehicle immediately and call 9-1-1.

The Lady Bulldogs (31-8, 10-0) put on a defensive showcase Thursday night in Pleasanton and pulled out a bi-district victory over the Hondo Lady Owls in three sets — 25-22, 25-18, 25-19.

Things may have looked easy advancing to the next round, but they were far from simple, Marion volleyball head coach Bree Holz-Gonzales said.

Things got a little spooky during the Lady Matadors’ bi-district round match Thursday night when John Jay took the first set before Seguin locked in and captured the victory in four — 21-25, 25-15, 25-18, 25-21.

After a couple changes to the line up and their mindset, the girls got things done, which is the goal in the playoffs, Seguin volleyball head coach Ashley Farris said.

Navarro falls 24-14 to Lago Vista in their regular season finale and possibly the last game ever at Erwin-Lee Field. The Panthers drop to 3-7 but will still make the playoffs if Jarrell beats Gonzales and Wimberley beats Lago Vista next week while the Panthers are idle.

11/01/2025

Final score: Llano 44 Marion 27. Pape throws 2 TD passes in the game. Llano ground game too much for Bulldogs. Need win at Florence in finale.

Navarro answers two Lago Vista scores with one of their own on a three-yard Dylan Trotti run. They trail 24-14 with 7:04 left in the game.
