AITA for telling my dad it’s his own fault he doesn’t have an active role in his grandkids’ lives?

So my dad is unfortunately still having kids at the big age of 63 lol. He already has two adult children: my brother (30M) and myself (27F). Both of us have kids of our own. He randomly texted my brother and I in a group chat several nights ago to say that he feels left out of his grandchildren’s lives. Both my brother and I have very active in laws who are retired. We are very grateful to have village that lives close by. Our mom also is an active grandma as well. Recently my in laws, my brother’s in laws, our mom and the kids went on a vacation. Of course I posted pics on social media. I do that for all of my trips. Well, I’m pretty sure this is what my dad was referring to when he claims he feels left out. My brother is a non confrontational kinda guy and didn’t reply. We had our own side conversion. I individually texted my dad and said I’m sorry you feel that way, but that’s really not our fault. I reminded him that he has two kids under the age 2, he lives over an hour away from all of us, and instead of being a grandpa at this stage of his life, he made the decision to start completely over. He told me that we are intentionally leaving him out because we don’t like his wife. We don’t really care for his wife, I won’t lie. Regardless of not liking his wife, it’s not our jobs to make sure he has a relationship with his grandkids. He also started rambling about how we don’t make an effort with our half siblings and how he wants all of his kids to be tight knit. I told him that...

AITA for not accepting my mom's wife as a parent and telling her to accept it and move on?

I (16f) have two mom's. Mom (bio) and mama (non-bio). Mama died 6 years ago and mom remarried 3 years ago. I have a brother who's 20 and doesn't live with us anymore. When mom started dating her wife she told me and my brother about her and seemed okay with us not wanting another mom. But ever since her wife moved in with us the expectation is there for me to be close and let her fill in as another parent.

She has tried with me way more than she's tried with my brother and he's older so I get it but it pi**es me off. She said she's not trying to replace mama but just to fill in where she can't be. I told her I don't want her filling in and she was like but think about the future because she doesn't want to always be the outsider and just the wife. Mom told me having three parents could be a great blessing and having two living moms again would be helpful for me.

Mom put me into therapy and the two of us started family sessions 7 months ago. Mom said she doesn't understand why we're so resistant to having another motherly figure around. She said mama would be happy for us to have someone who loves us and she knows she wouldn't want her to be alone forever. I said I don't want her to be sad or lonely either but why does her getting married again make her wife anything to me. I asked her if she was planning to treat my future spouse the same as she treats me and my brother and she said no and I said exactly. But then she said it's different.

AITA for making my boyfriend leave my party because he got a tattoo of me?

A couple days ago friends and family threw me a surprise party after reaching a big milestone in my life. Everyone close to me was there, even my boyfriend. Half way through the night, he pulled me aside a said he wanted to show me something, he rolled up his sleeve and revealed a tattoo of my eyes on his arm.

Everyone around us was amazed and impressed by his romantic surprise. I felt discomfort despite his good intentions. I don’t hate tattoos, however our relationship is still new at 3 months and the permanent gesture caught me off guard.

When I expressed my distaste for the tattoo, tension rose between us, and I eventually yelled at him to leave the party infront of all the guests. He left and communication between us has been limited to a few texts since.

He’s saying that because it’s his body, he can do what he wants with it and that I shouldn’t have embarrassed him like that. He didn’t tell me beforehand because he wanted to leave it a surprise. Most of my friends and family are saying I was being unfair and should have just appreciated that he got a tattoo of me.

So Reddit, AITA?

EDIT: The tattoo itself is very detailed, it has my eyebrows, the scar I have near my eye, also a mole that I have. It’s very distinctly me. Around the eyes is a border and on the bottom side, it has my name intergrated in it. It’s very small but present.

AITA for telling my former social worker I don't credit her for my good outcome?

I'm a former foster kid who ended up with an incredible foster family who eventually adopted me when I turned 18 because I wanted to create those legal ties with them. I credit them with giving me a good life after 7 years of a s__t one. But I don't credit my former social worker for that success at all.

So background: My mom lost custody of me when I was 5 and her older kids when they were 11 and 12. They had a different dad to me. I'm not sure what happened there but when we were first taken from our mom we were placed with a family member who eventually decided she didn't want us and we were then placed in the same foster home. But my half siblings hated me. They were always telling me I shouldn't have been born, trying to make me cry, they said my dad was dead and they were glad because he was s__tty and that I was s__tty too and I should be dead like him. I never knew who my father was and I don't know his name (no name on my original birth certificate). This started before we were taken into care but continued until I was finally separated from them after an incident when I was 6.

I was placed in 7 different foster homes before finding my family. My former social worker fought against me and my half siblings being separated and even when she lost the ability to keep us together, she insisted on visits between the three of us. I told her how they treated me, I recorded it once with my family's camcorder and she didn't care. The visits stopped once my half siblings aged out of the system. It was...

AITA for replacing my diabetic uncle’s shredded cheese that I ate?

I (21F) live with my aunt and uncle until I can get on my feet after graduating college. I’ve lived with them since high school after both my parents passed away.

My uncle is diabetic and needs to measure out his meals. He can’t eat many things so he has his own foods that only he eats. Otherwise, my aunt and I share the same food in the fridge and she always gets new things to try.

Last night I was making Mac n Cheese (it was really just random pasta with some different cheeses in the fridge) and grabbed some shredded cheese to use. Halfway through adding it, my aunt says that’s my uncle’s shredded cheese that he started using for meal prep. I didn’t finish the bag but I took enough where it would probably not add up to enough ounces for his meals. (About 3 pinches)

We don’t have the best relationship. He has anger issues and attributes it to work. I don’t have a job and rely on them for groceries, but I do help around the house and babysit my younger neice. I got the idea to replenish the shredded cheese to avoid any arguments about someone touching his food. I searched around in my room for any spare change or dollars I could find and went to the grocery store to buy another bag of cheese.

When I got back, he was home and asked where I went. I told him I accidentally used some of his cheese and I bought an extra bag. He then starts yelling at me for eating his cheese, that he only has limited things he can eat, why did I eat the one thing he has to flavor his meals, and that I’m trying...

AITA for telling my nephew that of he leaves then he can't come back?

My 9yo son is having a 4th of July weekend sleepover with his two friends and his cousin/my nephew. They will be leaving on Saturday. Last night I told the boys to go shower and brush their teeth.

Everyone but my nephew jumped into the shower at the same time which was odd. I asked my nephew if he was waiting for them to leave so he could have the shower to himself and he said no. My nephew said he wanted to go back to his house and shower there. I said no one is at your house except my other nephew who is 20 and it's 9pm. He said he'd walk home and come back.

I said I'll drive you home but you won't come back. So you go take a shower now or you go home. He said he wanted to go home so I told my older nephew to pick him up. My brother called and said I was being unreasonable and how my nephew was crying that he couldn't come to my house.

AITA for mockingly telling my dad I'm shocked he remembers my sister and I are his kids after he asked us to help his stepson?

I might have been a total AH to my dad and maybe even to the kid indirectly but wanted some opinions. Dad was a single parent to me (17m) and my sister (18f) from the time we were 5 and 6. Our mom died from a brain aneurysm suddenly and dad was a really good support to us. He took time off work and devoted his attention to us. That eased off after the first couple of years but the important part was he was still around for us. He'd show up to a few school plays or football games, he'd make time for us as a family and for 1:1 time. He was our whole world by then and we loved the dad that he was.

But when I was 10 he met his wife Sadie and her two kids (19 months m and 3f). Dad told me and my sister that he and Sadie were going to make a family so he was going to be there for his stepkids to get to know and bond with them and Sadie would do the same for us, and we should rely on Sadie and not on him, and Sadie's kids would rely on him and not her. It was so f__king infuriating. We told dad we wanted him, not Sadie and dad told us his stepkids (who weren't even his stepkids at the time) needed him more. Dad stopped doing anything for us then and Sadie tried but we didn't want her. We were so angry and jealous and hurt that dad dropped us for some random woman's kids. Their wedding day was a sh*tshow because they wanted Sadie's kids with dad and my sister and me with Sadie and we didn't want to be at the wedding...

AITA for choosing not to attend my son’s birthday party?

So, I (33F) have been co-parenting my 10-year-old son with my ex (32M) for several years. We've had our ups and downs, but overall, we’ve managed to make it work for our son’s sake. My current partner (35M) and I have always tried to maintain a healthy, supportive environment for our son.

This year, my ex and his wife decided to throw a big pool party for our son’s birthday at his wife’s mom’s house. They’ve been hosting these large parties for the past few years, and while our son enjoys them, they’ve become increasingly stressful for my partner and me. The details of the party are often left until the last minute, communication is spotty, and when I do attend, I find myself spending the day catering to everyone, cleaning up, and managing the logistics instead of enjoying the time with our son.

Because of this, my partner and I decided to step back this year. We communicated to my ex and his wife that we wouldn’t be attending the party, but we would still celebrate our son’s birthday with a quiet family dinner and maybe a sleepover with one of his friends closer to his actual birthday. Our son seemed okay with this plan when we talked to him about it.

However, my ex did not take this well. He accused me of being selfish, of putting my own feelings before our son’s, and even went so far as to say I was "abandoning" our son on his birthday. He’s been sending me texts saying that I’m making this all about me and not about what’s best for our son. He also says that by not attending, I’m doing the same thing I get upset about when my family doesn’t show up for our son’s...

AITA for telling my landlords I don't want to maintain their pool?

My landlords recently moved out and are planning on renting out their apartment in the future. They didn't even tell me until the day of that they were moving out. They then messaged me saying that they wanted to come back and have a discussion about pool management. I told them I didn't want to be responsible for managing it because I'm paranoid that something could happen and then I would be held responsible for their pool and I don't have the funds to even fix it if something were to happen. I'm also not home every day and I just don't want to take on that responsibility. They got upset saying all I would have to do is flip a switch on and off everyday and then put chlorine in once a week. I also don't even know where they go to buy the chlorine and I'm already struggling to keep up with my bills I don't want to add extra gas money to go get chlorine and then have to send them a receipt and wait to get reimbursed for the chlorine/gas. This really feels like a full time job that I didn't ask for nor is it part of my lease. AITA for not wanting to take care of their pool after they moved out?

AITA for telling my son's mom that she deserved to be cussed at and should apologize to our son?

My middle son Alex is 10. He was a total mama's boy until age 6 when he swung hard into being a daddy's boy. My ex and I divorced around that time. At least around me, my kids are not particularly modest. We're just four dudes who like being cold.

Last week Alex broke his leg after slipping on the stairs. He was with me that week and I had to help him get into the bath, wash him (I'm afraid he'll fall trying to wash on one foot) and help him dress (just faster if I do it).

My kids went to their moms yesterday and she called me saying that Alex cussed her out. Alex is the sweetest kid in the world. He can get emotional but not angry emotional. I asked what happened and she casually mentioned she was going to help him take a bath and he told her to get the f__k out of the bathroom. I asked if was n__ed and she said obviously and he was fighting with her about helping him.

I said you messed up. He doesn't want you in the bathroom when he's in the tub n__ed let alone you trying to help him. I said I bet you didn't even knock when you went into the bathroom.

She said "oh so it's my fault?" I said yes it is your fault. He's 10 not 4. You were quite thoughtless. If he were a girl, then I would ask what he was comfortable with and not barged in.

She told me she thinks he should have no Xbox for a week and since it would overlap with my time she wanted my cooperation. I said no. If anything you should apologize to him and acknowledge...
