Following a series of recent shootings, including the death of a 2-year-old child, Selma city leaders held a public safety meeting Wednesday night to discuss plans to combat crime.
Interim Police Chief Michael Perry outlined efforts to increase surveillance cameras, strengthen gun-related penalties, recruit more officers and work with federal and state law enforcement partners. Residents also voiced concerns about burglaries, street lighting and community involvement in crime prevention.
