The Dallas County Commission recognized Lamar Towns for his 16 years of service during their regular meeting Monday.

Also at the meeting, the commission approved the low-bid from Arrowhead Environmental Partners from Uniontown of $36.05 per ton to dispose of the trash from the county’s transfer stations in Orrville and Alabama 41 sites. They also approved the job description of the drivers who will haul the trash to the Uniontown landfill, a move that could save the county money according to Probate Judge Jimmy Nunn.

They also purchased a $300,000 side cutter that will help the county be able to upkeep the sides of county roadways.
