βMr. Symson preacht this day in the Tolbooth to the condemned persons, on 2 Timothy, ii. 25, 26, and also Mr. Brown on 2 Tim. i. 16, according to appointment. The Presbytery did appoint the whole members to spend some time this night with the condemned persons who are to dy to-morrow, and did allot to each one or two of the brethren one of the sentenced persons, to be dealt with by them, and waited upon to the Fire.β - Paisley Presbytery Records, 1697
328 years ago on June 10th, seven people were executed at Gallow Green in Paisley, Scotland for the supposed crime of witchcraft. This document is the last entry in the Presbytery records before Katherine Campbell, Agnes Naismith, Margaret Lang, Margaret Fulton, John Lindsay in Barloch, and brothers, James and John Lindsay were hung and burnt on the Gallow Green in front of the entire town.
