THEY COULDN’T UNDERSTAND WHAT HAD HAPPENED.
THEY ONLY KNEW SOMEONE NEEDED TO BE FOUND. 🐾🇺🇸
On September 11, 2001, while our nation stood in shock and grief, hundreds of courageous first responders rushed toward the unimaginable.
And running beside them were heroes who had four paws.
Search-and-rescue dogs climbed through mountains of twisted steel and concrete. They worked through smoke, dust, heat, noise, and exhaustion. They searched again and again, even when their bodies were tired and their paws were worn.
They searched for survivors.
They searched for the missing.
They searched for the people who never got to go home.
And when there was nothing left to find, many of these incredible animals still remained beside their handlers and first responders—offering something just as powerful as their ability to search:

They didn't ask why.
They didn't ask for recognition.
They didn't ask for anything in return.
They simply served.
🐾 ❤️Apollo. Bretagne. Sage. Riley. Trakr. Ricky. And countless other K-9 heroes.🐾❤️
And we must never forget the service animals who helped their people survive that terrible day—including **Roselle**, who guided her blind partner, Michael Hingson, safely out of the World Trade Center.
These animals may never have understood the enormity of September 11th.
But WE DO.
And we will never forget what they gave.

>Their strength.
>Their unconditional loyalty.
To every dog who searched, every animal who comforted, every handler who trusted their partner, and every working animal who answered the call:

Your paws left footprints in places no human should ever have had to walk.
Those footprints may have disappeared from the rubble long ago…
..but they will remain forever in our hearts.**
