🚨 Heads up, everyone — possible Smokies closure looming for October 10th 🚨
Hey friends, just wanted to keep you all in the loop. With the current federal shutdown, there’s talk that Great Smoky Mountains National Park could see closures again as early as October 10, 2025 — depending on funding and staffing.
As of now:
Thanks to efforts from Friends of the Smokies, the State of Tennessee, local counties, and tribal partners, the park has been fully open through at least October 10th.
But that doesn’t mean everything is guaranteed beyond that — the situation is still fluid.
Some services have already been impacted (visitor centers, picnic areas, etc.), though many trails and roads remain open.
So what can you do?
✅ If you’re planning a trip around that date, keep checking the National Park Service’s Alerts/Current Conditions page before you go
✅ Be prepared for last-minute changes
✅ Consider visiting sooner rather than later if possible
✅ Support our local and state efforts that help keep the park open
