Belles of Blue Announce New Album Old Pine Box, Available September 18th.
Sound Biscuit Records is pleased to announce the upcoming release of Old Pine Box, the new full length album from Kentucky-based bluegrass group Belles of Blue, arriving everywhere September 18, 2026. Led by sisters Nancy Decker and Dollie Slayton, alongside their sister and harmony vocalist Sharry Lovan, Belles of Blue have built their music around faith, family, traditional bluegrass and songs that tell a story. Old Pine Box brings those elements together in a collection of twelve original songs.
“Every song on this album has a story behind it,” Nancy says. “No matter what life throws your way, you just keep going. You just keep writing and singing, remembering the good, forgiving the bad. You keep the faith and bless others by sharing the things you have gone through and testifying about the outcome.”
For Nancy and Dollie, those stories reach back to their childhood in the Ozarks of Missouri as members of the original Singing Murdy Family. During the late 1970s and early 1980s, the family traveled throughout the Midwest in an old blue bus, holding revivals and performing bluegrass gospel. All seven children grew up singing, playing instruments and writing songs.
Their father's words continue to influence the sisters today: “you can tell a story, or you can sing one.”
“I knew from the first meeting with Nancy and Dollie, this project would be special.” Says Sound Biscuit CEO Dave Maggard. “To sit down and write a good song takes talent. To write a book of great songs is a gift. These ladies have that gift. The songs they write are uplifting and have a message that connects with their fans. Being part of their dream, to put a full project together, has been a great experience. As you listen to this album you’ll witness the special place that sister harmonies have in bluegrass music and a perfect example of how it should done.”

The album arrives on the heels of a major radio milestone for the group. Their latest single, “Hebrew Children,” reached #1 on the Bluegrass Today Gospel Weekly Chart in August. Written by Nancy Decker and inspired by the biblical account of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, the song has long been one of Belles of Blue’s most requested numbers at live performances.
