Our June edition is out today and filled with stories about amazing people.
You’ll read about Valley Voices lead designer, Vaughn Burnheimer, who found himself in the midst of the war in Iran when it began.
You’ll also meet Daniel Christiana who lost the use of his limbs in an accident but faced life with strength and ingenuity, building a business to retrofit ATVs for disabled individuals, including himself.
Another story features Frank D’Urso, who has spent 50 years coaching wrestling in the Reynolds School District, a legacy defined by dedication, mentorship, and a whole lot of heart.
June brings us Father’s Day and Men’s Health Month. Dr. Barry Segal of Sharon Community Health Center shares insight for men on taking a more active role in their overall health, especially their emotional well-being.
Valley Voices visited The Saratoga Restaurant in Warren, Ohio, for the June Out & About, a family legacy restaurant celebrating 110 years this month.
And on our cover are 16 remarkable young people being honored for shaping our communities.
We hope you enjoy reading this edition as much as we loved putting it all together!

May is filled with meaningful moments that remind us to appreciate what truly matters. From Mother’s Day and Memorial Day to Brain Cancer Awareness Month, Mental Health Awareness Month, and Physical Fitness Month, this time of year brings a thoughtful focus on reflection,
gratitude, and well-being.
In this month’s edition, you’ll meet local women at the top of their professions, leading the way and inspiring others who are up and coming. Their journeys and advice offer insight, encouragement, and motivation.
You’ll also join our Valley Voices team as we visit six area line dancing instructors who are energizing this popular social scene. Their passion proves that line dancing is fun, but it’s also a fantastic way to stay active and connected.
Altogether, these observances and stories make May a time for appreciation, remembrance, and a renewed commitment to both physical and mental health.
And, of course, the season brings with it the first true
promise that summer is just around the corner!
Valley Voices Magazine for May 2026 is available now on newsstands and in today’s edition for Herald subscribers.

As we enter the month of April, you’re invited to join us on a journey through the wineries, breweries, and distilleries that shape our region’s flavor and character. Even those who don’t partake can appreciate the craftsmanship behind each pour—an artistry rooted in time, patience, and human dedication. And while we won’t give everything away, it’s safe to say the industry has come a long way since the days of backwoods stills and Prohibition.
On this month’s cover is Diana Hancharenko, a young entrepreneur from Liberty Township, Ohio, whose thriving whiskey-tasting business reflects both tradition and innovation. Inside, you’ll also discover favorite local breweries and wineries, along with a unique distillery tucked beside an auto repair shop on the wooded edge of Jackson Center, Pennsylvania.
Our In Good Taste feature offers an expert look at how food and beverages elevate one another, bringing new depth to every bite and sip.

April’s edition also celebrates community and creativity beyond the glass. In honor of Earth Day, we highlight Envy Hair & Nail Studio in Hermitage, Pennsylvania, where sustainability takes center stage through efforts to repurpose hair clippings and reduce waste. Meanwhile, Out & About takes us to Candywood Wine Cellar in Vienna, Ohio, where guests can enjoy an exceptional dining experience paired with a thoughtfully curated menu.
With stories that range from craftsmanship to conservation, there’s something for every reader to enjoy. Valley Voices is available today for subscribers to The Herald and can also be found in area stores and newsstands. Cheers!

Out today in Herald subscribers’ newspapers and on newsstands around the region. ☘️
March is knocking on the door, and with its arrival comes the promise of spring. And, of course, St. Patrick’s Day with its touch of Irish luck and a whole lot of local flavor.
This month’s issue features a look at local home and garden shows, offering inspiration and practical ideas to help prepare our houses and yards for the season ahead.
We take you to West Winn Urban Ag in downtown Sharon, Pennsylvania, where innovative indoor growing techniques are helping plants and communities thrive year-round. For those eager to get their hands in the soil, a visit to Lengel Farm in Mercer, Pennsylvania, showcases outdoor growing at its best.
March also marks the start of planning for high school prom season and this month, we give readers a photo spread of some area floral shops and their creative, talented owners, along with stunning ideas and trends in prom flowers to make the big night even more special.
In Good Taste serves up a delicious collection of recipes perfect for celebrating the Irish holiday and welcoming the season.
For this month’s Out & About, we stopped by Kelly’s Side Door Tavern in New Castle, Pennsylvania, where we enjoyed some authentic Irish fare and a welcoming atmosphere that made us feel right at home.
From festive favorites to comforting classics, there’s something to enjoy with family and friends as we toast to March and all it has to offer. 🍀

This month, “Let’s meet the Scott family!” These five family members from New Castle, PA, made it all the way to the stage of Family Feud. Read all about their exciting experience and what it was like on that side of the television.

February is American Heart Month, and we’re sharing a deeply moving story you won’t soon forget. A teenager from Sandy Lake, PA, received a life-saving heart transplant from another young boy in Kansas who tragically passed away due to complications from meningitis. Keep the tissues handy—this powerful story of strength, generosity, and love is sure to touch your heart.

We also dive into fun and fascinating hobbies like coin collecting, metal detecting, needle crafting, and model building, and we shine a spotlight on the highly successful and competitive Sharon High School Robotics Team.

With gaming and hobbies on our minds, Out & About took us to Splitz Bar and Grille in Hermitage.

You’ll also find great game-day recipes, creative Valentine’s Day crafts, and, if you’re a high school football fan, a must-see parting shot. Book Chat is back, too, with another great book review.

February is upon us, ready or not. What better way to welcome it than with the latest edition of Valley Voices Magazine? It’s out today. Enjoy!

Out in today’s Herald!
We are publishing a few days early this month due to the Thanksgiving holiday and to give our readers a chance to check out what our local advertisers have to offer for holiday shopping.

In this December holiday edition:

On our cover is Bob Madigan and his magical holiday train village that he keeps running all year long. His story is one of joy, kindness, and sharing.

You’ll meet people like Kelsey Stitt, who transformed unimaginable heartbreak after losing her husband in a tragic accident into a mission to lift others up; and Tiffany Holden, who finds comfort in the midst of personal medical challenges by supporting the children in her community through “Santa in the City.”

Over the past 12 months, we’ve looked back at two decades of Valley Voices Magazine. In revisiting the many stories shared along the way, one theme carries through: everyday people — friends, neighbors, and strangers alike — giving of themselves in whatever way they can. We hope these recollections have brought you comfort, nostalgia, and a reminder of the quiet goodness that surrounds us.

The greatest gift we can give each other is kindness. So this season, be grateful. Be giving. Be humble. And above all, be love. From our Valley Voices family to yours, may your holidays be filled with peace, warmth, and joy — however you celebrate. We are truly grateful to you - and for you.

Out today!
In this month’s edition, we spotlight veterans and services for veterans that acknowledge the physical sacrifices along with the emotional and psychological weight carried by our heroes. These local programs not only assist and support our service members, they honor and thank them for enduring the hardships they faced far from home.
Sacrifice on the battlefield is also a story of resilience and hope. One inspiring story inside this edition features a young woman soldier, wounded in combat, who transformed her injury into remarkable inner strength. Today, she competes as a Paralympic cyclist, embodying the spirit of overcoming adversity in the wake of war.
We also share the experience of Honor Flight, an extraordinary nonprofit that offers veterans all-expenses-paid trips to Washington, D.C., giving them the chance to visit memorials that honor their service and sacrifice - a journey that provides both healing and recognition.
In observance of National Hospice and Palliative Care Month, we highlight a devoted local priest who has provided comfort and courage to hospice patients in our community for 27 years, guiding them through life’s most challenging moments with grace and compassion.
’Tis the season for gift giving, and we invite our readers to support small, local businesses owned by our neighbors, family, and friends. These hard-working people pour their time, energy, and creativity into offering unique products you won’t find anywhere else. This season, make it your mission to seek out those special gifts for your loved ones. Don’t miss our “Shop Small” advertising section in this edition, filled with great opportunities to support the businesses that support our community.
As the beautiful colors of autumn pop up all around us and we prepare for Thanksgiving, all of us at Valley Voices Magazine wish you and your loved ones a season filled with health, happiness, blessings, and hope.
