Vandals Strike Again, Causing Spectrum Outage in Shasta County

For the second time in three months, Shasta County residents are experiencing widespread service interruptions after vandals targeted Spectrum-Charter Communications infrastructure. The latest outage was reported Friday morning, affecting internet, video, and phone services across the county.

According to Spectrum spokesman Dennis Johnson, details about the location of the vandalism and the extent of the damage are still being gathered. The disruption was first reported just before 7 a.m., with some customers receiving text notifications from the company. Spectrum has estimated that service will be restored around 11:30 a.m.

The incident echoes a similar outage in late June, when vandals cut communication lines at Highway 273 and Canyon Road, resulting in over 10 hours of service loss for Spectrum-Charter and Verizon 4G customers.

This is a developing story, and Shasta Newsstand will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available. Stay tuned for the latest.
