Shawnee Hills Village Gazette for September 2024. This issue of Gazette Legislative Report is a slight departure from normal. I'm just listing verbatim the comments and interaction of residents and Village Council in the discussion of the legislation pertaining to multi-family housing in Shawnee Hills. At the Shawnee Hills Area Chamber of Commerce Meeting Thursday the board voted to extend the Golf Ball Challenge through Labor Day. Visit your participating businesses, find the golf ball and get your passport validated. Passports are on display at all businesses similar to this display at el Vaquero Restaurant in Shawnee Hills. Or hidden amoungst produce at the Village Market
There are prizes for those who participate - so start your challenge now.

DINING AROUND SHAWNEE HILLS with the Shawnee Hills Area Chamber of Commerce

El VAQUERO RESTAURANT
David Medina, owner of el Vaquero Restaurant, 9130 Dublin Road, has been a good friend of mine and the Shawnee Hills Area Chamber of Commerce for about 20 years. I was eating one of my favorite dished there one time (they make the best chicken tamales) and he and I got to talking. He said that he wanted people to know that they are a very family friendly restaurant. And this was true. I looked around and saw at least five tables with families enjoying their dinners. So I stopped by another evening and met the Marshall family. Jeff and Melody, were there with four of their children – Hope, Lyra, Charlie and Camryn. You could tell that el Vaquero was a favorite of theirs because they each had their own special choices. Lyra ordered chicken Quesadillas, Hope, who went to great lengths to explain why she is a vegetarian, ordered nachos with refried beans and queso sauce. Camryn went for a burrito and Charlie chose from the kids menu - chicken fingers and French fries. As I watched them digging into their dinners it occurred to me that el Vaquero really is a family friendly place. There are food choices to satisfy every appetite. And even as Charlie proved something for the kids with a special menu just for them. We were lucky that evening to have David stop by to greet the family and to take time to pose for a photo. There are two spacious dining rooms and an outdoor patio when the weather permits. One dining room can be reserved for private events. El Vaquero in Shawnee Hills – my favorite Mexican restaurant this side of Mexico.
