Please see below for correction from Visit Shawnee about IFYR.

NOTE: The June issue of the Shawnee Outlook includes an article written by Visit Shawnee staff that goes over information pertaining to this year's International Finals Youth Rodeo (IFYR) and the special events taking place during the rodeo, specifically the Spur for the Cure Pink Night and Service Heroes Night. While the dates for the rodeo were correct in this article, the times, dates, and details of the two highlighted events were true of 2018's IFYR, but not 2019's.

We would like to apologize to both the Shawnee Outlook and its readership for the confusion. This year's IFYR will not feature either of the specials we listed. However, Expo Center staff is looking forward to the possibilities of next year's rodeo, which is hoped to feature even bigger and better themed evenings. Until then, the youth rodeo action is still just as exciting!

No Dairy Ice Cream
We are finally getting some warm days in. Nothing says “school is out” like sitting outside eating ice cream. Take all the guilt away by feeding yourself and your family this two-ingredient ice cream.
Ingredients:
4 frozen bananas
1 Tbsp dark chocolate chips
Directions:
Cut the bananas in chunks and place in a food processor. Blend until smooth; at least 60 seconds. Add chocolate chips and blend.
Makes 4 servings
Nutritional Information per serving
Calories: 123 Total Fat: 1.5g Saturated Fat: 1g
Cholesterol: 0mg Sodium: 3mg Total Carbohydrates: 29g
Dietary Fiber: 3g Protein: 1g
Nutrition 101: As soon as bananas start getting a little too ripe is the perfect time to put bananas in the freezer. Take the peel off the bananas and cut them into two. Put the bananas in a good freezer bag so they don’t get frostbite. I always like to keep bananas in the freezer in case we are in the mood for a smoothie or to make ice cream. Experiment with your ice cream. Keep the bananas as your base, but then experiment with adding in strawberries or peppermint extract or peanut butter. Get the kids involved on this one. My three-year-old thought this was so fun to make and even more fun to eat while making it.
