Certainly the end of 2025 has seen demolition in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, with expansion of theater arts and a completely revamped Fountain Park in mind.

Fountain Park Restaurant saw the end of its era earlier this year, as well as Dubuis.

The city hopes these upgrades will allow for more attractions and venues.

How do you feel about the city's upgrades? What do you feel Sheboygan as a whole could benefit from?

Temperatures are in the -0Β° category. Are you prepared?

*The Sheboygan county warming Center has extended its hours for Sunday, December 14th. They will be open all day.

*When traveling in extreme cold temperatures, it is strongly advised to use a reliable vehicle with a full tank of gas. Remember that a fully charged phone, blankets, water and food could save your life in an emergency situation! If you can afford it, add roadside assistance to your auto insurance policy. This can easily be done by contacting your agent(usually the carriers have toll free numbers you can call to have it added immediately). Keep your vehicle in a garage when possible to deter frost/ice/snow buildup.

*Limit your outside exposure and cover as much skin as possible to reduce the risk of frostbite and hypothermia. Dress in layers. Try to stay as dry as possible, as water can turn to ice very quickly. This includes clothing and hair/facial hair.

*Be sure to keep your homes core temperature at 60Β°or higher to prevent pipes from freezing. Open your lower cupboards. Check your basement pipes often.

*Check on elderly family, friends and neighbors. Often, due to aging and/or declining health and frailty, they are often very vulnerable and sometimes living alone.

*When you hear of freezing temperatures early on, stock up on groceries, household goods, etc. Save the errand running for a warmer, safer day!

*Keep walkways as clear of ice as possible. Ice scrapers and metal shovels are a great way to clear excessive ice and compacted snow. This will also cut back on the salt/ sand needed to clear the walkways.
You can pick up ice cleats to help with traction on slippery areas.

*You can help cats to stay warm, too. Heated cat houses are available online and you can stuff them with hay or old blankets. You can also place a heated water dish outside.

You can 'weather' the weather if you're smart about it! Stay safe and warm, everyone!

The Farmers Almanac predicted it. The wooly bear caterpillars predicted it. Some didn't want to believe it. Some were excited about it and couldn't wait for it. Yet, here we are. Wisconsin snow has slammed us yet again, taking no prisoners but offering more mercy than past years, with glistening white crystals and glazed ice surfaces. Citizens Advocate is late to the party this year, but do not despair, unless it's about the road conditions and heavy snowfalls to clean up. Be delighted about the white stuff! Make snow angels, build a snowman!

That said, we would be ill-advised to not allow more time for commute, much less drive under the influence. To drive the point home, yes, pun was intended, we would do well to ensure our windshields are clean, gas tank is full and perhaps a bag of cat litter in the back to try to deter so much fishtailing, as donuts are only fun in empty parking lots.

We have decided to post a few photos of just how challenging driving can be- as well as what can happen in haste and carelessness.

If you feel like joining the kids on the hills, feel free! Be a kid and enjoy the white wonder. But be on your toes. Or better yet, your feet. That way, you won't make good friends with the snow and pavement.

Enjoy the winter weather, everyone !

Winter is most certainly here, though the first day of winter is December 21st. Wisconsin is not one to play by the rules, so you'd best be ready with shovel and eager for snow related activities. With holidays right around the corner, snow is a great symbol of the approaching holidays.

However, with snow and holidays, which can also include gray skies, winter/ holidays can also present challenges. If you've lost a loved one, have chronic medical conditions or struggle with seasonal affective disorder, navigating the upcoming days can be daunting.

When the days all seem to blend together, when time stands still and when it's tough to be jolly, give yourself grace. (As we have). It's ok to say no to every invitation. There's nothing wrong with allowing more time for yourself. If mourning a loved one, you could do something in their honor or you could plan a day of reflection. Sometimes, getting out of your own way is great advice. But don't forget, we are all only human. Give yourself grace. If you know someone who is struggling, don't be afraid to reach out. If you yourself are struggling, talk to someone you can trust. You don't have to do it alone. As always, know that there's people who care. God bless you all.
