Once summer hits my paddleboard pretty much lives in my car…but until last week I’d never tried a night paddle. I just haven’t purchased the lights required to do it legally or safely.

So last week when I was invited to try out the full moon SUP experience at Moraine State Park, it was an IMMEDIATE yes.

The best part about signing up for one of these group trips is that everything is provided for you. Ian takes care of every step and all you have to do is show up and enjoy the night. Of course, a full moon paddle includes a sunset, and he knows the perfect spots to catch both out on Lake Arthur.

Being out on the lake in a group once the sun went down made my first night paddle feel much less intimidating. Plus it was nice to not have to deal with the gear clean up at the end of the adventure.

Upcoming full moon paddle dates:
June 28
July 29
August 28/29
September 26/27

A park where graffiti is not just legal, but encouraged? 👀

Pittsburgh’s South Side Color Park is located along the Three Rivers Heritage Trail. It’s a beautiful spot to get creative with spray paint, or if you’re not feeling artsy it can be a cool spot to snap some photos or watch the sunset against the city skyline. The Three Rivers Heritage Trail connects to the Great Allegheny Passage…a 150 mile rail trail that stretches to Cumberland, Maryland.

You can search ‘color park’ on Google and Apple maps but if you prefer the address sent right to your inbox just comment ‘graffiti’ and I’ll send it over.

There are some rules to follow:
No obscenity.
No hate speech.
No painting beyond the boundaries of the park. This includes the surface of the Three Rivers Heritage Trail, and all surfaces beyond the specific area of the park.
No destruction, damage or painting of benches, signs, water fountains or other amenities on the trail.
No littering.
Trail is open from dawn to dusk.
Respect others. The trail is a welcoming space for all.

If you were looking to book a dog-friendly outdoorsy getaway would be on your list? If not… let me change your mind. [ 𝗁 𝗈 𝗌 𝗍 𝖾 𝖽 ]

At Omni Bedford Springs they don’t just allow dogs, they make sure they feel included.

And I’m not just talking about going for hikes around the property. I’m talking about dining on dog friendly patios with special menus, super friendly staff and NO breed or weight restrictions.

We spent the entire time exploring the resort, both indoors and out. With 20+ miles of hiking trails we never had to hike the same trail twice. We also took some time to wander the historic halls together to learn some of the resort’s impressive history.

Once I made sure Frek was sufficiently spoiled (and tired) I snuck away to check out some of the other activities the resort offers.

The STUNNING indoor pool was one of my first stops. Followed by a trip to the outdoor pool, complete with cabanas, an ice cream shop and a glistening hot tub. The resort boasts a luxurious spa (which I had to pass on this time but don’t worry, I WILL be back), a top tier golf course, fitness room, archery lessons, and my favorite…a UTV experience. There’s nothing like a muddy walk of shame across the resort back to your room 😅

So if you’re hesitant about booking this dog friendly stay, don’t be. I was and now my only regret is that I didn’t visit MUCH sooner.
