WHAT REALLY HAPPENED? CLEVELAND MAN BITES OFF MORE THAN HE CAN CHEW IN "BLACK MAGIC" BEATDOWN

On December 29th, 2024, Brandon William Liedtke of Cleveland, Ohio, traveled to Cleveland County to confront a local resident over accusations of supernatural wrongdoing.

Liedtke, who hosts a YouTube channel called "Profound Effect Tarot", was able to obtain the address of a supposed rival who was allegedly casting "black magic".

Upon arrival at the address, Liedtke begins streaming the interaction to his YouTube channel. In search of a man named Dennis, Liedtke props his phone up to capture the action before knocking on the door. Answered by another member of the household, "Dennis" is summoned and the interaction begins.

The man greets Liedtke in a casual manner as if he may have been expecting him, noticing the camera immediately. Liedtke accuses the man of sending a supposed niece, referred to as "Trevonne", to harass him with "black magic", which is met with Dennis reacting by sucking the thumb and index finger of both hands.

Dennis instructs Liedtke to leave the camera on and goes back in the house for a brief moment, returning with a holstered firearm. Unphased by the elevation of potential danger, Liedtke resumes confronting the man in regard to "Trevonne", the alleged 16 year old niece. Dennis asks Liedtke if he was instructed to pursue him by Trevonne, with Liedtke responding that he came of his own volition.

Dennis explains in length his family's history and ties to local churches in an attempt to convince Liedtke that he does not perform "black magic", followed up by a proposed handshake and welcoming to North Carolina.

Liedtke responds with a verbal apology and a right hook to the jaw of Dennis as the fight goes off camera and other members of the household join the fray.

After the beatdown, Liedtke was later detained by Cleveland County law enforcement and charged with simple assault, first-degree trespassing, misdemeanor conspiracy and resisting a public officer.

Video footage of the incident went locally viral on January 9th, with many questions from locals remaining unanswered. How did Liedtke obtain the address? How did the conversation between the two begin? Video footage of the incident, which has now been removed from YouTube, is shown below now exclusively on Cleveland County News for you to draw your own conclusion.

UPDATE: It has now been revealed by an individual claiming to be a family member that Trevonne and Dennis were previously romantically involved, and that Trevonne and Brandon are now allegedly in a relationship, with the aforementioned 16-year-old found to be nonexistent. The same individual claims that Brandon camped out for 3 days in an abandoned barn nearby waiting on this moment. At the end of the day, was this an overblown lover's quarrel?

NEW PLAY CENTER OPENS IN SHELBY

As a new mom, Kayleigh Melton was inspired after noticing a lack of quality children’s entertainment in Shelby. Working with her husband Matthew, an idea soon turned into reality and The Play Place Shelby was opened to provide a place for kids to learn, grow, and explore while parents relax.

The Play Place Shelby, located at 1202 South Post Road, has already soft opened to the public, with positive reviews across the board. A coffee shop is also in the works, with plans to serve during the grand opening on January 31st.

SHELBY CHECKERS CLOSED, PROPERTY FOR SALE OR LEASE

Occupying the building held by Domino's a few years ago, visitors recently noticed that the Checkers location on 938 Grove Street in Shelby was no longer in operation via a "CLOSED" sign on the door. The Google listing states that the property is "Temporarily Closed."

LoopNet, one of the largest online marketplaces for commercial property, lists the location as available for lease, with a similar website, Crexi, listing the property for sale at a cool 1.25 million.

Built in 2003 as Domino's and renovated in 2022 for Checkers, many believe that the building is in a hard to access area that impedes traffic crucial to success in the highly competitive Shelby fast-food space.

BIG LOTS GOING OUT OF BUSINESS; WHAT'S NEXT FOR THE MARKETPLACE SHOPPING CENTER?

In 2021, close to a million dollars was spent to remodel retail space in the Marketplace Shopping Center for Big Lots, which joined Hobby Lobby as an anchor store in the space previously anchored by Wal Mart before it's relocation in 1999.

Just three years later, Big Lots Stores Inc. has filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy, resulting in all stores including the Shelby location going out of business.

Despite Big Lots going out of business, forward momentum for the rejuvenated Marketplace Shopping Center isn't expected to slow down. In 2024, a multitude of new businesses have opened in the space, including Burlington and Five Below, indicating a continued belief in the potential for success for businesses in the area.
