# # # Nepal–China Border Flood: A Himalayan Tragedy
The Himalayan region has been struck by a devastating flash flood along the Nepal–China border, leaving behind scenes of unimaginable destruction.
A massive collapse of ice, rock and debris in the high Himalayas triggered a sudden surge of water through the Lhende Khola and Bhote Koshi river systems. The powerful flood swept through communities in Nepal’s Rasuwa, Nuwakot and surrounding districts, while China’s Tibet region was also severely affected.
Homes, roads, bridges, vehicles and critical infrastructure were destroyed within minutes. Entire sections of settlements were buried under mud and debris, leaving families desperately searching for their loved ones.
Hundreds of people have lost their lives, while more than a thousand remain missing across Nepal and Tibet. Many missing people are foreign tourists and pilgrims who were travelling through the region toward the sacred Mount Kailash area.
Nepal Army, police, rescue teams and helicopters are working tirelessly to locate survivors and deliver emergency supplies to isolated communities. Rescue efforts remain extremely difficult because roads and bridges have been washed away.
This is more than a natural disaster—it is a heartbreaking reminder of how powerful and unpredictable the Himalayan environment can be.
