Camp canceled. Babysitter called out. A child home sick right before your client call.

Summer childcare falls apart. And when it does, one disruption doesn't have to derail the entire workday.

Swipe for 4 systems that help lawyer moms protect essential work when plans fall through:
• Build a backup ladder (Plan A through Plan E)
• Have the partner conversation before the crisis
• Protect your top 3 work priorities only
• Triage the day, don't abandon it

Camp canceled? Babysitter called out? A child home sick right before an important client call?
Summer childcare can fall apart quickly—but one disruption does not have to derail your entire workday.

The Lawyer Mom’s Summer Backup Plan shares practical ways to prepare for the unexpected, including:
☀️ Creating Plan A through Plan E childcare options
☀️ Protecting your three most important work priorities
☀️ Preparing outdoor and indoor backup activities
☀️ Keeping food, supplies, and summer essentials ready
☀️ Communicating with your spouse, partner, or support system
☀️ Making room for your own identity too

A disrupted day is not necessarily a failed day. Sometimes, it is simply a triage day.
Inspired by Cari Rincker’s conversation with Quinn Dalan in Episode 09 of The Billable Mom podcast.

Real talk: do you give clients your personal cell number? 📱

I used to say yes to everyone. And then I found myself texting back at 10 PM on a Saturday about a document that wasn't due for another two weeks.

So I changed my policy. I got a dedicated client line. Same availability, cleaner boundaries. It was honestly one of the best decisions I've made for my sanity as a working mom.
But I hear the other side too. Some of the attorneys I respect most swear by giving out their cell. Clients feel more cared for, more trust gets built, fewer missed calls.

There's no universal right answer. But there is YOUR answer.

So tell me: personal cell or dedicated line? Or do you have a completely different system? Drop it in the comments. 👇
