This Sunday,December 14, the Wood River Area Community Choir will present
the cantata “Festival of Christmas” at 2:30 p.m. The cantata will be presented at St. Mary’s Catholic Church located at 408 11th Street in Wood River.

Santa makes grand entrance at Christmas in the Park!

Gibbon got into the holiday spirit with the annual Christmas in the Park cele- bration on Saturday, December 6. Hot cocoa, warm chili, Christmas carols, and dozens of decorated trees treated the great crowd in attendance. New this year was a Christmas parade of decorated golf carts and recreational vehicles preceding the grand entrance of Santa and Mrs. Claus, arriving on a fire truck with lights and sirens to the children’s delight. The Gibbon Volu teer Fire and Rescue Department’s decorated tree, at left, was selected as the winner this year. See more pictures on page 16 of the December 11 edition of The Clipper!

The preliminary results from the Thursday, December 4, Give Where You Live (GWYL) Day of Giving in Buffalo County were posted recently and showed Shelton and Gib- bon non-profits fared well in donations received throughout the day. Nineteen Shelton non-profits and 12 Gibbon non-profits took part in the Day of Giving.

Gibbon awarded $488,000 through CDBG program

The Nebraska Department of Economic Development (DED) recently awarded $14,173,231 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds to 38 projects in 33 communities through the 2025 Downtown Revitalization, Planning, and Public Works opportunities. Gibbon was awarded $435,000 to improve the appearance of downtown businesses with commercial rehabilitation activities, to make downtown sidewalk improvements to meet ADA guidelines, and complete a street improvement project in the downtown area.
