Honoring a Legend | Dan Cooper

Today we pause to honor Dan Cooper, the man behind Cooper Hunting Blinds—a true pioneer, mentor, and friend to so many in the hunting community.

Dan wasn’t just building blinds; he was building opportunities, memories, and a legacy rooted in hard work, innovation, and a deep respect for the outdoors. His impact will be felt every time someone settles in, waits patiently, and shares a moment afield with family or friends.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Cooper family and everyone whose life Dan touched. His legacy will continue to stand strong—just like the blinds he built.

🦌 Rest easy, Dan. You will not be forgotten.

🎄🦌 Christmas Eve Priorities 🦌🎄

While some folks are setting out cookies for Santa…
we’re glassing the woods to make sure he doesn’t walk out with antlers. 👀

Santa’s got the binos.
The hunter’s got the cookies.
And Rudolph? He probably shouldn’t have stopped this close to the blind.

Because around here, Christmas Eve is still deer season.

Merry Christmas from the stand 🎅🎯

Back Home Where It Belongs 🦌🇺🇸

We finally got our buck back from the farm we shot last year in Kentucky, and man… this one turned out pretty cool.

This deer represents more than just a great hunt. It’s a memory from last season, a place that means a lot to us, and another reminder of why we do this—time in the woods, doing it the right way, and honoring the animal when it’s all said and done.

The mount turned out incredible, and seeing it finished and hanging where it belongs brings the whole story full circle. From the moment in the stand to the final details, this is one we’ll always remember.

Kentucky treated us right last year. Grateful for the hunt, the process, and the result.

🦌 ProTip Tuesday | ArmyBuckHunters

Culling bucks is one of those topics that gets a lot of debate—but when you’re managing deer, it matters.

Last week’s buck is a perfect example of how we approach it. He had very small brow tines, and after watching him over time, it was clear he wasn’t showing the genetic traits we’re trying to grow on this property. That doesn’t make him a “bad” deer—it just means he didn’t meet our management goals.

🔑 Some of the criteria we look at when deciding to cull:
• Consistently short or missing brow tines
• Poor tine length or mass for age
• Narrow frame that hasn’t improved over multiple seasons
• Body maturity without antler progression
• Long-term trail camera history showing limited genetic upside

The goal isn’t trophies at all costs—it’s balanced herd health, improved genetics, and better opportunities down the road. Sometimes the right decision isn’t passing forever; it’s knowing when a buck has peaked.

Every property is different, every management plan is different—but having clear criteria makes the decision easier when the moment comes.

ArmyBuckHunters is in Texas today, and it didn’t take long for the action to heat up. Rory Layne made it happen on a solid Texas 9-point, taking the shot with his crossbow and making it count when the moment mattered most.

This hunt was a perfect example of why confidence in your equipment matters. The setup gave Rory the chance to really put his Hawke crossbow scope to work—clear glass, precise aiming, and the kind of reliability you need when there’s no room for doubt. When a mature buck steps out and the window is short, having optics you trust makes all the difference.

Texas treated us well today, and this is exactly what ArmyBuckHunters is about—discipline, preparation, and executing when the opportunity presents itself.

Snow changes everything. ❄️🦌

Quiet woods. Fresh tracks. Every movement stands out when the ground turns white. Sometimes the best part of the hunt isn’t the shot—it’s just sitting back and watching deer move naturally through a winter landscape. Moments like this are why we do it.

Slow down. Pay attention. Let the woods tell the story.

🦌 Pro Tip Tuesday | ArmyBuckHunters

When you find a fresh scrape, you’ve just located one of the best intel hubs in the woods. Bucks use scrapes like a calling card — checking who’s been through, leaving their own sign, and circling back at all hours.

That’s why dropping a WiseEye camera over a scrape is one of the smartest moves you can make. Their AI species recognition and time-of-day pattern tracking let you watch exactly which buck is checking in, how often, and when he’s most killable.

Scrapes don’t lie… and neither does the data.
Put a WiseEye on it and let the pattern build itself.

Sometimes the hardest call in the woods… is the one you don’t take.

Here’s a look at a buck we passed on tonight. Moments like this are where discipline meets experience—and where having the right optics makes all the difference in making that go/no-go decision.

When a buck steps out and you’re judging age, body size, and potential, clarity matters. That’s why we rely on our Hawke Frontier binoculars with laser rangefinders. Crisp glass and accurate distance readings give us the confidence to make the right call in real time.

Passing a deer isn’t always easy… but it’s part of managing the herd and waiting for the moment that truly counts.

Who else is in the stand tonight?

🦌💥 Pro Tip Tuesday — Hunt Smarter with a Suppressor

If you’ve never taken your rifle into the deer woods with a suppressor, you’re missing out on one of the biggest game-changers in modern hunting.

A suppressor doesn’t just reduce sound — it elevates your entire hunting experience, especially for families.

🔹 Reduced Noise = Less Pressure
A quieter shot keeps deer from blowing out of the area, giving you better chances at follow-ups and keeping the woods calmer.

🔹 Better Shot Confidence
Less muzzle blast and reduced recoil help you stay on target, make cleaner shots, and spot your impact.

🔹 Protect Your Hearing
A suppressor protects you — and your kids — from damaging noise without sacrificing situational awareness.

🔹 Perfect for Kids Learning to Hunt
If you’re introducing young hunters to the sport, a suppressor is a huge advantage.
It cuts down the intimidation factor, reduces flinch, and builds confidence. Kids stay calm, focused, and more comfortable behind the rifle — which makes their first hunt safer and more enjoyable.

🔹 Improved Hunt Quality
Everything stays calmer and more controlled, even in tight woods or around bedding areas.

As always, check your local state regulations — but if it’s legal where you hunt, a suppressor might be the best upgrade you make this season.
