🎥 Full Circle Moment for ArmyBuckHunters

This weekend, Shawn Dalrymple, CEO of ArmyBassAnglers and host of ArmyBuckHunters: Force on Force, was honored on the field at the Florida vs. Kentucky game — while his son James, who now plays football for the University of Kentucky, watched from the sidelines. 🇺🇸🏈

James was just two months old when Shawn deployed to Afghanistan. To be recognized for his service on the same field where his son now plays was a moment years in the making — a true reflection of sacrifice, service, and the bond between a father and son.

We took advantage of the calm before the next cold front and did a little doe management with the crossbow. The Hawke Optics XB30 scope made the job clean, ethical, and precise — crystal clear glass, solid reticle hold, and perfect light gathering in those early morning shadows.

While we wait on that cold front to finally push through this weekend, the WiseEye cameras are quiet — not a deer in sight right now.
So instead of sitting around, we’re putting the downtime to good use and trying our hand at a batch of homemade summer sausage. Nothing beats that smoky aroma rolling out of the smoker while you prep for a big hunt weekend ahead.

Sometimes the best part of hunting season isn’t just the chase — it’s the time spent around the smoker, sharing stories, and getting ready for what’s to come.

🦌 Pro Tip Tuesday: Slow-Cooked Venison Chili Perfection

Nothing beats the smell of venison chili simmering all day while you’re out checking trail cams or sighting in your bow.

Here’s how we do it:
• Brown 1.5 lbs of ground venison first.
• Then toss it all in the crock pot —
• 1 can dark red kidney beans
• 1 can light red kidney beans
• 1 bottle chunky salsa
• 1 can tomato sauce
• 1 can corn
• 2 green bell peppers (chopped)
• 1 white onion (chopped)
• 1 container sliced mushrooms
• 2 bay leaves
• 2 tbsp chili powder
• 2 tbsp A.1. Sauce for that perfect tang and depth

Let it cook on low for about 8 hours, stirring occasionally. The flavors blend, the venison softens, and that A.1. adds a subtle smoky richness that ties it all together.

Serve it up with cornbread and a cold drink — perfect after a long day in the woods.
