Former resident Charlotte Jane “CJ” Prince left a big impression in Elbert County, and longtime friend Joanne McLain shares a tribute to the writer, television performer, journalist, Tai Chi instructor and larger-than-life character who passed away in March. Kiowa's Ryker Robinett has been chosen as one of the nation's best Native American high school baseball players and will attend the fifth annual Native American All-Star Baseball Showcase on June 27-28 in Atlanta. Ryker, who has mostly played center field and wants to do more pitching going forward, will represent the Puyallup Tribe of Tacoma, Washington. Colorado Trust for Local News sportswriter John Renfrow reports on the honor.

Elizabeth has become home to a thriving disc golf scene, with frequent events and fundraisers. The Prickly Pines Disc Golf Course, at Elizabeth’s Evans Park, was installed in 2018 while the Prickly Pines Club officially started in 2020 with about 25 homemade tags. Now the club is 125 members strong, including a solid group of about 10 that work to promote and grow the club.

Xcel Energy pushes back on Elbert County's appeal of Power Pathway ruling.

Go to this web page — tinyurl.com/xcel-response-elbert-appeal — to read the Xcel Energy response to Elbert County's appeal that seeks to move the Colorado Power Pathway route farther east than what was approved by the Colorado Public Utilities Commission.

The utility is digging in to stick with its original route through the heart of the county.
