After appearing in Ross' music video, Birmingham began to pursue acting as his primary career. He studied acting with Larry Moss and Charles Conrad. In 1986, Birmingham made his television debut on an episode of the series Riptide. By 2002, he had a recurring role as the character Oz in the medical drama Body & Soul, starring Peter Strauss. MLB Opening game in Griffith Stadium, Washington D.C., June 25, 1924 | Color by me

This is available for print on Redbubble:

Before baseball had mascots, they had Nick Altrock and Al Schacht. Here they are seen joining in on the dance of women who seem to be students of Isadora Duncanโ€™s way of dancing in lithe, graceful movements.
The dance is still popular today! Duncan wrote of American dancing: "let them come forth with great strides, leaps and bounds, with lifted forehead and far-spread arms, to dance."

The photo is dated 6/25/1924 on LoC which means that day the Washington Senators played against the Philadelphia Athletics. The Senators won the game, pictured here Spot Nick Altrock whoโ€™s part of the team. :)

Later in October the Washington Senators went on to win the 1924 American League game against New York Yankees.

Original photo from LoC, National Photo Company

Shack and Altrockโ€™s camaraderie in baseball, in more photos:

Posing for the camera, everyone seem to be all smiles, even the food seller up on the right:

Entertaining early fans and workers of the stadium before a game:

Altrock and Schacht pretending to be at sea:

Happy holidays everyone! :) Please look forward to a colorful 2018

Billie Holiday and her Boxer named Mister at Downbeat Jazz Club in New York, 1947

A cute moment with โ€˜Lady Dayโ€™ and her beloved dog.

Billie started her career singing at Harlem nightclubs, with her impressive voice and improvisational skills she became a huge influence in jazz music. You might recognize some songs of hers such as โ€œEasy Livingโ€, โ€œIโ€™ll Be Seeing Youโ€, โ€œCrazy He Calls Meโ€ and anti-lynching song "Strange Fruit". She had two sold out concerts at Carnegie Hall during her 30-year long career.

Sadly she struggled with drugs and alcohol throughout her life, and was diagnosed with cirrhosis in 1959. She passed away at the age of 44 later that same year.

Her love for music and dogs lives on.

A Tewa girl of the Pueblo peoples, photographed by Edward S. Curtis in ca. 1906

๐Ÿ“ธ 3/20

This photo marks the third in a series of twenty photos I"ve colorized of Indigenous and First Nations people who lived a century ago in America. 17 to go!

The girl in the photo is adorned in a butterfly/squash-blossom hairstyle that was typical of the Hopi. She is wearing her manta made out of black wool, dyed with subtle indigos on the top, and embroideries in greens and reds which are typical of Pueblo peoples at the time. The designs and colors varied slightly from village to village.
