The “Detroit Rebellion of 1967” would become known as one of the deadliest and most destructive civil uprisings in American history. It was officially declared over on July 27, 1967.

Sammy and Jerry were tight — a rare Black-and-white friendship in a Detroit era charged with riots, division, and suspicion. Cruising through the city in a red convertible Cadillac, they turned heads everywhere they went.

While the city fought itself, Sammy and Jerry chased songs, talent, clubs, radio stations, deals, and late-night ideas. It was never about politics. It was about the music.

They built their own lane while Detroit burned, danced, and reinvented itself around them.
