Storms across eastern Sabine parish are moving east at about 32 mph. Expect heavy rain plus thunder and lightning to continue into Natchitoches parish until close to 1 am. The severe threat which is small should diminish by then.

11/30/2025

Our severe weather threat is rapidly diminishing this late Saturday evening as a strong cold front is undercutting what few storms we have down in Toledo Bend. The advancing green boundary over Toledo Bend shown on the Willis Knighton Mega 3 Doppler Radar Radial Velocity represents the cold front. Notice how the lightning strikes dissappear as the boundary moves through indicating a reduction in the instability helping to drive the storms. Expect the front to finish the job around midnight.

Cold front continues moving south through the ArkLaTex. The boundary stretches from Ringgold to Center and is moving southeast at 20 mph. Our Willis Knighton Mega 3 Dual Pol Doppler Radar on Velocity mode shows the boundary with green colors just NW of the Radar location in Mooringsport and reds southeast into Shreveport. The green colors indicate winds blowing toward the Radar from the northwest. The reds show the winds blowing away from the Radar to the southeast in Shreveport.

The chilly air is moving in with temperatures in the 40s-50s north of the front and 60s south in Toledo Bend.

Winds are gusting out of the northwest at nearly 30 mph in Mt. Pleasant and 23 mph in Shreveport.

Storms near Lufkin are moving northeast at 18 mph toward Nacogdoches. Fortunately, the Differential Reflectivity shows only large rain drops in red at 8400 FT. The Correlation Coefficient also shows large raindrops in the fairly uniform red areas. This is just at one level, but it's near the freezing level in the storm. So, this one...the strongest in the area doesn't look too bad concerning hail. This data comes from our Willis Knighton Mega 3 Dual Pol Doppler Radar.

11/30/2025

The Doppler Velocity scan looping over the past hour shows the cold front with the winds blowing rain drops southeast toward our Willis Knighton Mega 3 Dual Pol Doppler Radar in Mooringsport. That movement was 19 miles during the past hour. So, the cold front is traveling southeast at nearly 20 mph.

PLEASE READ THIS AND NOT SIMPLY LOOK AT GRAPHIC.

UPDATE...This image is just one image from one forecast model. Most other models are not this extreme and not even close. But this was posted today and I wanted to explain things for you...

-A cold rain will likely overspread part of the area on Monday morning.

-In most cases, it will only be rain.

-There likely will be a layer of warm air just above the surface that is above freezing. That means any snow falling towards the ground likely will melt before reaching surface. If the layer of warm air is thin enough, you may see some flakes reach the ground.

-Another scenario is for the snow to completely melt and fall to the ground as rain or freezing rain. There is a SMALL chance it could freeze on some elevated surfaces. SMALL. Most areas will likely be above freezing.

BOTTOM LINE...Be ready for a chilly and damp Monday. The ground is very warm. Unless something drastic changes, I would say we are not in store for a big chance for winter impacts. May see something, but mainly rain. Of course, we will update.
