This past year I added a Flock Audio Patch XT system to Thermal Studios. It has replaced my old analog TT patch bay and has given the studio a major upgrade in efficiency, speed and instant options. The Patch XT is an all analog patch bay with 192 patch points. It’s digitally controlled, but 100% analog signal path with no conversion! Each one of my preamps, compressors, EQs, FX, console inputs and outputs appear as an icon which can be dragged anywhere in the signal chain. It basically turns your hardware into drag and drop plugins. Any session can be saved, and there’s even a plugin which can be saved within the song- and that loads automatically when you open the song’s session. Total game changer and you can instantly bypass any hardware to audition different options. Highly recommended for pro studios with a lot of outboard gear.

Rig of the day for Parker Barrow’s session today. Victory Duchess and 65 Amps Empire amplifers with a Fender Custom Shop Master Build Telecaster. Sound techs: notice the mic clip which holds a Royer R-121 and 57 in exactly the right position.

Looking for a space for a band to rehearse next week all day 11/6 and 11/7. We have all PA gear and back line, but need a decent sized space where we can crank a mid sized system from 12-7 each day. Preferably in the Philadelphia area, but open to other nearby areas.

I’ve been looking for a 335 that I really like for about 5 years. Finally found one this week! On the left, this is a 2024 Gibson ES 335 Supreme in Seafoam Green. It’s been plec’d and has coil taps built in with push pull pots. Gold hardware, locking tuners and the pearl inlay. Also an amazing 2023 Gibson SG in Pelham Blue Burst. Can’t wait to record and play with them!

Using these femme fatales the next four shows this week with - as we travel through a few states to entertain you! A 2021 Dean Zelinsky Dellatera Snakeskin, and 2011 Gold Bullion Gibson SG. Both have the Graphtec Ghost System installed with stereo output.

Weapons of choice for Parker Barrow album #2 today. We auditioned a 65 Amps Empire, Blackstar HT40 and Splawn Street Rod with 1968 Les Paul Custom Shop. Which do you think won? For Megan’s vocals we used a Neumann M149 Tube mic through API 512 pre, API 550b EQ, 1176LN and Tube-Tech CL1B compressors. on guitar and on vox!
