Buena High School Releasing Students Early Due to Air Conditioning Issues

Sierra Vista, AZ – Sierra Vista Unified School District announced that Buena High School will release students at 10:15 a.m. today due to unexpected air conditioning issues.

While maintenance crews were making repairs to the school’s AC units, additional failures occurred, causing the system to stop working. With rising temperatures in classrooms, the district determined it would be best to release students early for their safety and comfort.

· Buses will transport students home beginning at 10:15 a.m.

· Families may also pick up students starting at 10:15 a.m.

· Students who are unable to return home will be relocated to the Klein Center, where the temperature is more comfortable. Lunch will be provided for these students.

“We want to ensure our students remain in a safe and appropriate learning environment,” said Terri Romo, Superintendent of Sierra Vista Unified School District. “We appreciate our families’ flexibility as crews continue to make the necessary repairs.”

The district will provide updates to families as additional information becomes available.
