Things nobody told me before I picked up a camera professionally 👇
- your taste will outpace your skill for years — and that gap will feel like failure even when it’s actually just growth.
- The clients who haggle hardest on price will demand the most after booking. Learn to read that early and save yourself the shoot.
- You will take your worse photos on your most expensive shoots. Pressure and creativity are not friends.
- Nobody cares how hard the shot was to get. They only care what it looks like on the other side.
- The photos you’re most proud of will rarely be the ones that perform. Make peace with that early or it will quietly break you.
- Your editing style will change completely at least three times — and every version of you will be embarrassed by the last one.
- The photographers you compare yourself to are comparing themselves to someone else. The ladder has no top.
- One honest photo taken in bad light will outlast a hundred technically perfect ones taken out of obligation.
