GMCR seeks to establish and operate a non-commercial / educational, non-profit, volunteer-based community radio station located in Silver City, NM. GMCR shall provide educational programs and services, includ

ing but not limited to programs of educational merit including those concerned with scientific, cultural, historical, and humane studies; adult education, distance learning, programs in support of K-12 and higher education; programs incident to for-credit instruction and general
interest programs. GMCR’s news and public affairs programming shall provide a forum for the community, as well as unpopular, controversial, or neglected perspectives on important local, national, and international issues, reflecting GMCR’s inclusive values of peace, justice, democracy, human and civil rights, multiculturalism, environmentalism, freedom of
expression, and social advancement. GMCR’s arts, cultural, and music programming shall cover a wide spectrum of expression from traditional to experimental, and reflect the diverse cultures that GMCR will serve. GMCR shall strive for spontaneity and programming excellence, both in content and technique.

KURU is asking for your help. Like Bob Cratchit, we need some holiday cheer to remain a voice and a choice for Southwest New Mexico.Our goal for GivingTuesday on December 2 and the rest of the month is to raise $15,000. That sounds like a lot, but we’re not alone in this. The New Mexico Local News Fund will match the first $6,000 of listeners’ donations. And generous local donors will kick in an additional $3,500 in matching grants. That means that, as if by magic, your $25 pledge becomes $100. So please make a year-end donation now, when it will do so
much good. Thank you!
Please come by the station for our open house on Saturday, December 6 from 10am to 4pm. We'll have snacks and beverages. Come say hi to the folks who make it all happen!

Ken and Jeanie will have a place of honor in this Day of the Dead parade Sunday November 2nd. Their photo will be in a bicycle rickshaw which will be accompanied by live music and we hope to have a second line as well marching along side.

I don't usually post, but this coming Sunday, Nov.2, on the Social Aide and Pleasure Society meet-UP, two guests and I will be discussing an important topic: how the Plant Kingdom is adjusting to climate change. Mark Widrlechner, a retired Botanist who worked for the USDA and is still an active Horticulturist, and Janna Mintz, a gardening educator and seed-saver, will be joining me around 3:30. I look forward to the conversation and hope you will want to join us.
