In the deserts of Western Australia, there is a plant that makes you look twice. πΏ
Its flowers are bright green and shaped so perfectly like tiny hummingbirds that people actually stop to check if they are looking at blossoms or miniature birds frozen mid flight.
This is the green birdflower, Crotalaria cunninghamii. It grows in some of the hottest, driest parts of the country and only blooms when the right mix of heat and rain finally arrives.
Each blossom naturally forms the shape of a small bird, with a curved beak and folded wings. It is not trying to copy an animal, it is simply built to attract pollinators, and nature just happened to make it look like art.
Every time new photos appear online, the plant goes viral all over again. Its vivid green color, strange structure and survival in harsh desert conditions make it stand out even in a land full of unique plants. π¦
Just another reminder that nature creates illusions more stunning than anything we design ourselves.
