Eatv24 Statement on the Mount Washington Tragedy is deeply saddened by the tragic news from Cincinnati, Ohio, where three young members of the Ethiopian community — Bemnet Deresse (27), Eden Adugna (22), and Feven Adugna (20) — their lives taken from.
These victims were students, healthcare professionals, and community members who represented the hard work, discipline, and values that the Ethiopian diaspora contributes to American society every single day.
As a media organization serving Ethiopian American and abroad, we ask the difficult question: Why is this happening to one of the most hardworking and law-abiding communities in America?
We urge community members: Stay alert. If you see something or suspect something, go immediately to your local law enforcement. Vigilance and cooperation can save lives.
We thank God that the FBI Director is in Cincinnati alongside the State Attorney, and we hope the National Guard will also support local law enforcement in maintaining peace and ensuring justice.
Eatv24 joins the Mahdereselam Kidanemihret Ethiopian Orthodox Church, families, and friends in mourning this heartbreaking loss. We stand in prayer and solidarity.
