Kenya and Rwanda have signed three government-to-government agreements that will allow Rwanda to import refined petroleum products through Kenya’s Northern Corridor, strengthening energy cooperation between the two countries.

The deal gives Rwanda access to Kenya’s fuel storage and pipeline infrastructure, with petroleum products expected to move through the Port of Mombasa before being transported inland. Officials from both countries say the agreement will improve fuel supply security, lower logistical challenges and deepen regional trade integration across East Africa.

The first shipment under the new arrangement is expected to arrive later this year.

Zulu King Misuzulu kaZwelithini has called for an immediate end to attacks on foreign nationals in South Africa, saying violence against immigrants damages the country’s reputation across the African continent.

Speaking amid growing anti-immigration protests in parts of South Africa, the Zulu monarch urged citizens to reject violence and allow authorities to address concerns over illegal immigration through legal and constitutional means.

“This is making us look very bad. We need to stop,” the King said, warning that attacks on migrants undermine South Africa’s image and strain relationships with other African nations.

His comments come as tensions over undocumented migration continue to dominate public debate, with demonstrations taking place in several communities. While many South Africans have expressed concerns about illegal immigration, unemployment and pressure on public services, government officials have repeatedly insisted that violence and intimidation are unacceptable.

President Cyril Ramaphosa has also condemned attacks on foreign nationals, stressing that law enforcement agencies should deal with immigration-related issues while protecting everyone living in the country. The King’s appeal has been welcomed by many observers, who hope it will encourage calm and promote peaceful dialogue as South Africa continues to grapple with the complex issue of migration.
