A man installed a trail camera to keep an eye on his property at night, expecting nothing unusual. Instead, what he captured left everyone completely stunned.
At exactly 2 AM, his cat Bandit quietly crossed the yard, followed closely by four raccoons walking in a neat line behind him, almost as if he were their leader. The group moved together toward the shed without any chaos, noise, or hesitation.
What makes the situation even more strange is that it didn’t happen just once. For three consecutive nights, the same pattern repeated itself: Bandit leading the raccoons to the shed, where they all stayed together for about an hour before calmly walking away as if nothing unusual had happened.
No one knows what takes place during those late-night meetings. There are no signs of damage or disturbance, only the repeated footage of this odd and perfectly timed gathering.
Bandit himself has offered no explanation, leaving the entire situation a complete mystery. Whether it’s coincidence, habit, or something far more bizarre, one thing is certain: this cat seems to be running a very quiet nighttime operation that no one fully understands.

Retired journalist Dorothy Butler Gilliam, the first Black woman hired at The Washington Post, is among the top contributors to a GoFundMe campaign created to support recently laid-off members of the Washington Post Guild.

After learning about the newspaper’s mass layoffs in February, Gilliam quickly donated $10,000 to the GoFundMe, Washingtonian reports.

Her contribution joins two other $10,000 donations—the largest gifts for the fundraiser—coming from journalist Kara Swisher and an anonymous donor.

In 1891, Anna M. Mangin invented the pastry fork — a simple but practical kitchen tool designed to mix pie crusts, cookies, butter, and flour without having to knead everything by hand.

She was granted U.S. Patent No. 470,005 on March 1, 1892.

At a time when few women — and even fewer Black women — were recognized for their inventions, Mangin created a tool that reduced the physical strain of mixing and mashing. The pastry fork could also be used to beat eggs, mash potatoes, and prepare dressings.

In 1893, her invention was exhibited at the World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago. Initially, women and people of color were largely excluded from participation. After continued pressure for representation, a limited number of exhibits were allowed — including Mangin’s pastry fork.

Though it occupied only a small space in the exhibition hall, one writer described it as “the only thing of its kind at the patent office.”

Anna M. Mangin may not be a household name, but her invention represents something larger — innovation, persistence, and the often overlooked contributions of African American women in everyday life.

Sometimes history isn’t only about grand speeches or major political events. Sometimes it’s about the tools in our kitchens — and the people who made them easier to use.
