Confusing the lack of boundaries with a good heart is very common among many individuals.
However, the constant overextension, self-explanations, and emotional burdens for everybody will exhaust you at one point.

Having boundaries isn’t selfish.
It’s all about protection.

You can be compassionate and refuse.
You can love somebody and keep a distance.
You can have a strong connection but value your peace first.

Fact to learn later on in life:
everyone doesn’t have the right to see the real you.

Protect yourself.
Protect your energy.
