Trying to “fix” my toxic food behaviors without Overeaters Anonymous is like trying to knock down a bees’ nest without calling a professional 🐝😅. Painful. Messy. And I’ll probably get stung over and over again.

OA reminds us: “We could not control our eating. We had to surrender to a power greater than ourselves.” (OA 12 & 12). When I stop trying to do it alone and actually lean on the program, the buzzing chaos calms down. 🕊️

“When we try to control the uncontrollable, we make ourselves sick. When we surrender, we make space for healing.”— Inspired by OA Literature 💚

In this program, we learn a powerful truth: we cannot control everything. We can’t control the food once it’s in front of us. We can’t control other people’s actions, the past, or what tomorrow will bring.

But we can choose to surrender. We can place those uncontrollable things into the hands of our Higher Power and trust that we are safe — even when we don’t feel in control.
Surrender isn’t giving up. It’s giving over what’s too heavy for us to carry. It’s the moment we stop forcing outcomes and start living in reality — one day at a time.

Today, I choose to let go of the fight. I surrender what I cannot control, and I embrace the small, powerful actions I cantake — like asking for help, staying honest, and trusting the process.

Recovery is not a straight line, and grace doesn’t wait for perfection. In Overeaters Anonymous, I’m learning that healing isn’t about getting everything right — it’s about becoming willing. Willing to show up, to try again, to forgive myself. Willing to grow, slowly and unevenly, into the person I was always meant to be.
Some days I stumble. Some days I soar. But every day I remind myself: progress, not perfection. I don’t need to be fixed — I need to be faithful.
Every act of honesty, every surrender, every time I choose recovery over relapse — that is the miracle.
