We stumbled into a campground in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, where things just didn’t sit right. It started with someone yelling at us while we were walking to the bathhouse, followed by another uncomfortable interaction with my husband the next morning.

As a mixed-race family, and knowing some of the area’s history, we decided it was best to trust our instincts and move on.

That’s part of travel too. Most places and people we meet are incredibly welcoming, but every now and then you find a place that doesn’t feel like the right fit. So you leave, keep exploring, and make room for the experiences that remind you why you love being on the road.

Camping in Jasper National Park (Wilcox Campground) was so AWESOME but it wasnt without its challenges! The second day we got rain and snow with 38 degree nights SO, we came to the shelter area and kept warm by the wood stove!

The most amazing thing about Wilcox Campground was that fire wood was free and unlimited! Also they had these structures in the case if storms, which came in totally useful!

All we had to do was make sure the bears stayed out 🤣

Canada, you’ve completely won us over. šŸ‡ØšŸ‡¦

From the turquoise lakes of Banff to the rugged beauty of Jasper, every stop has left us saying, ā€œWow.ā€

The mountains, the wildlife, the hiking, the glaciers… it’s hard to imagine a more beautiful place.
