Tara Jay - Large Wig Advocate & Educator I’m Tara, big‑head wig tester, size 23" (14" E2E, 16" F2B). I hunt down wig brands and cap constructions that actually fit , no squeeze, just beautiful hair.

Stick around if you’re over the one‑size‑lies!

Wig Sister Hair Mail from Taylor.

This is Morgana in Ginger Blend by Chelsey Smith ... how have I never ordered anything in this color before?!

I love Wig Sister Hair Mail. I recently got this BelleTress Lux SE Elle in Brown Sugar Cookie R and its just beautiful.

I don't know why I keep trying to go blonde... when I am clearly better in bronde type colors.

Thank you Katelyn ... this one is gorgeous!

We absolutely SHOULD keep asking wig companies for better.

Better large-cap options.
Better coverage.
More realistic sizing.
More modern styles designed for women whose heads don't fit neatly into "average."

I'm certainly not going to stop asking.

But here's the other side of that conversation: YOU aren't the only person these wigs have to fit.

Even among those of us who need a large cap, our heads aren't built the same.

We can have the exact same circumference and completely different ear-to-ear measurements, front-to-back measurements, hairlines, head shapes and coverage needs.

Some women have a full head of bio hair underneath their wig. Some have very little. Some have none.

One person needs more room. Another needs more ear-tab coverage. Someone else needs a lower hairline. And the next woman needs the exact opposite.

There is no single wig construction that can perfectly accommodate every one of us.

So yes... keep being the squeaky wheel.

Tell companies what you need. Ask for large caps. Ask for better sizing. Ask them to recognize that "average" isn't actually everybody.

**But also learn your own head**

Learn what you can adjust. Learn what you can modify. Learn which constructions work best for you and how to make an almost-right wig become a really great wig.

Because sometimes the solution isn't waiting for a manufacturer to create the perfect wig for your exact head. Sometimes we have to find the fix ourselves.

Advocacy says: Companies can do better.

Empowerment says: And while we're asking them to, I'm going to figure out how to make this work for me.

Your happiness in wig wearing ultimately belongs to you.

Keep asking for better. But don't hand someone else the responsibility for whether you get to enjoy beautiful hair.

Maxim is searching for its next Radiance model. TallTaraJay is competing in a tournament to win that title, to take home $20K cash, take the trip of a lifetime to Greece and a have a $5k donation made to the charity of her choice. She will need a Top 20 finish in this first portion of the Entry Round in order to advance.

I'm Tara, a photographer, creator, and wig advocate who believes confidence isn't about looking perfect, it's about feeling like yourself. Through my work and my social media, I help women navigate wigs with honest reviews, practical education, and a reminder that beauty doesn't expire. Stepping into Maxim's 40 Plus competition is my way of showing that resilience, confidence, and reinvention only get stronger with age.

I chose to support the National Breast Cancer Foundation because wigs aren't just about hair, they're about helping someone recognize themselves again during one of the hardest seasons of their life. Every day, I see how the right wig can restore dignity and hope. Supporting this cause is a natural extension of the work I'm already passionate about, and I'm honored that this competition gives me a way to uplift women facing breast cancer
