Carl had been looking forward to his birthday party all month. He’d picked out the decorations himself—blue and silver balloons, a big cake with his favorite flavor, and even a playlist of all his favorite songs. The house was buzzing with laughter as his friends and family arrived, everyone enjoying the food and games.
