The Heart Behind Helvetica Alpine Kitchen
Helvetica Alpine Kitchen was born not just from a love of food but from the fierce and determined love of a woman who feeds her family no matter how challenging the audience.
I have struggled with eating my whole life. Living with ADHD, I often found it hard to enjoy meals or build a consistent appetite. My son Domenick, who also has ADHD, experiences many of the same challenges. His tastes are strong, specific, and ever-changing. Meals at our house were never simple. But my wife Mary, a kitchen manager at Spring Ridge Elementary, never gave up. She made it her mission to nourish the two pickiest eaters she knows: her husband and her son.
At home, Mary’s kitchen became the heart of our family. She found joy in crafting meals that did not just fill our plates but made us feel loved, seen, and satisfied. Whether it was a plate of porcupine meatballs on a busy weeknight or a perfectly layered salami sandwich after a long day, her cooking brought calm to our chaos.
Helvetica Alpine Kitchen is our next chapter. This is a new adventure for our family, one built around Mary’s gift for feeding people and our desire to share that care with others. We are currently in the process of gathering the funds to bring this dream to life, one step at a time. Every bit of support helps us get closer to putting Mary’s recipes on the road and into the hands of our community.
