We are so proud of our General Manager and our partnership with the Crittenton Center and all that they do in the community. We are live and local, supporting local and the Siouxland community!

Today's story comes from someone who's not only a long-time supporter of Crittenton Center, but also a former Board President and valued voice in our community- Dennis Bullock, station manager at Powell Broadcasting. Dennis has seen firsthand the impact of our mission and shares his reflections as part of our 130 Stories for 130 Years campaign. His words remind us why this work matters.

"During that last 130 years of serving Siouxland, Crittenton's services have changed and evolved, but one thing has not. Crittenton has remained steadfast in meeting the needs of the community's children and families. Especially those less fortunate.

When I was on the Crittenton Center Board, we developed a (then) new slogan for the Agency at that time- "Helping Families Shine." I believe Crittenton Center has done just that for the past 130 years, and with the community's support, will continue to do so for the next 130 years."
- Denny Bullock, former Crittenton Center Board President.

Visitation for Mark will be held at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City, IA, on Sunday, May 18, 2025, from 2 PM to 5 PM. At 4 PM, there will be time for friends and family to share memories of Mark. Memorial contributions in memory of Mark, may be directed to the Sioux City Humane Society.

Mark F. Hahn, a revered figure in the Siouxland radio community, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, in Sioux City, IA. Born on November 26, 1955, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Mark was the son of Walter and Madelyn (Weidner) Hahn. Raised in Pittsburgh, he received his education there and graduated from Point Park College. He married his wife Denise in 1978.

Mark's career as a radio host spanned several decades, during which he dedicated himself to his craft and to the Siouxland community. He worked with notable organizations including Radioworks/Cardinal Communication, Clear Channel, and Powell Broadcasting. His engaging personality shone through as he co-hosted "The Mark and Rita Show" alongside Rita, as well as on his own program, "Mark's Drive Time Live." Mark's vast knowledge of a wide range of topics, combined with his personable and humorous nature, made him a treasured voice in local broadcasting. He excelled at interviewing various figures, bringing out compelling stories and insights from those he spoke with.

Outside of his career, Mark was a devoted family man. He took immense pride in his two sons, Reed and Pryce. He also cherished his role as a grandfather to Ivy. Mark's kindness and thoughtfulness were evident to all who knew him, alongside his quick wit and stubbornness.

Mark is survived by his wife, Denise Hahn; two sons: Reed Hahn and wife Serena and Pryce Hahn and wife Kayla; granddaughter, Ivy Wulf; his siblings, including two brothers, Alan Hahn and his wife Cindy, and Eric Hahn, as well as a sister-in-law, Liz Hahn. He is also remembered by several nieces and nephews.

Throughout his life, Mark embraced his interests, including golfing, collecting Civil War memorabilia, and watching old Westerns. His contributions to the Siouxland community were significant, as he was an active member of the Siouxland Chamber of Commerce and made a lasting impact through his work and personal relationships.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, along with a sister-in-law.

🎙️ A Tribute to Mark Hahn – A Voice, A Mentor, A Friend 🎙️
From the streets of Pittsburgh to the airwaves of KSCJ, Mark Hahn has been a steady voice, a creative force, and a true community champion.
Since October 2009, Mark has worn many hats at Powell Broadcasting — guiding advertisers with strategy and care, and hosting Drive Time Live with curiosity, insight, and heart. Whether speaking with national newsmakers or local heroes, he brought conversations that mattered to the people who matter most.
Mark’s journey began in Pittsburgh, PA — a “city boy” with a farm boy's grit, shaped by his family's horticultural roots. After earning a degree in Journalism & Communications from Point Park University, Mark found his passion behind the mic at just 17 years old — and never looked back.
For over four decades, Mark has brought authenticity and wisdom to every broadcast. Whether traveling to D.C. with the Chamber or telling stories from the heartland, he connected listeners to the world and to each other.
Beyond the mic, Mark is a proud dad to Reed and Pryce, dog-dad to Columbia and Shadow, and beloved “Papa” to his granddaughter Ivy. His hobby? “Aging gracefully," as he would say. And he did it with humor, warmth, and an undeniable spark.
Thank you, Mark, for your dedication, your voice, and your impact. You've made our days brighter and our drive times unforgettable. We miss you so much.

We are heartbroken to share the passing of our dear friend, colleague, and Powell Broadcasting Radio family member, Mark Hahn.

For years, he filled the airwaves with warmth, laughter, and an unmistakable voice that became part of our daily lives. Mark was more than a talented radio personality—he was a mentor, a teammate, and a true friend. Behind the mic, he brought so much joy, happiness, and comradery anywhere he went.

The studio won’t be the same without his energy, wit, and passion for the craft. We are grateful for every moment shared, every show aired, and every memory made.
Rest in peace, Mark. Your voice may be silent, but your impact echoes on. 💔🎧
