🚨 𝐃𝐨 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐊𝐢𝐝𝐬 𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐓𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭? 🚨
So far this year, the Sioux City Police Department has responded to 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝟔𝟎 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐚 for reckless driving, removing subjects from the property, and juvenile-related incidents. The majority of these calls involve juveniles and young adults creating chaos inside the store and then after dark, in the parking lot.
Here's what everyone should know:
🚫 𝐓𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐲. So are Fleet Farm, Lowe's, and many other retail parking lots throughout Sioux City.
These businesses are there for customers—not as late-night hangouts, meeting spots, or racetracks. Simply moving from one private parking lot to another doesn't make the activity lawful.
Property owners have the right to ask individuals to leave their property, and officers can enforce Iowa's trespass laws when appropriate.

When your teen says they're "just going to Target," do you know what that really means? Are they shopping, or are they meeting up with friends where reckless driving, burnouts, speeding, and other dangerous behavior can put themselves and innocent people at risk?
What may seem like "just hanging out" can quickly turn into something much more serious. Reckless driving isn't harmless fun—it can lead to crashes, injuries, criminal charges, and consequences that last far longer than one evening.
