Rockabilly for One!

The Reverend Jesse Ray probably uses more hair gel than your typical minister and he probably rocks out heavier than the average parish patron. That's OK because Jesse Ray (formerly of Jesse Ray and the Caroline Catfish) is currently a one-man rockabilly phenomenon. The good Rev. will be slinging a mean guitar at 8 p.m. Saturday at Vangarde Arts, 416 Pierce St.

Hot Led (Zeppelin!)

Despite a few one-off concerts, the legendary Led Zeppelin was a band that has a lifespan of about a dozen years -- 1968 - 1980, to be precise. However, the tribute band ZOSO: Ultimate Led Zeppelin Experience has been around for more than 30 years. We imagine that means ZOSO has had to play "Stairway to Heaven" approximately eleventy-billion times. See ZOSO play "Stairway to Heaven for the eleventy-billion and first time during their 8 p.m. Saturday show inside of Hard Rock Hotel & Casino's Anthem, 111 Third St.

DR. WALLACE: I'm in high school now, and I'm battling a tough problem. I get really nervous whenever I have to speak in public by myself. It's strange to me, because I can raise my hand and ask a question in a classroom to a teacher in the middle of a series of questions that various students are asking.

Parker on a Roll!

With hit singles like "Burn it Down," "Handle on You" and "What Kinda Man," country star Parker McCollum is taking Nashville by storm. The longtime Austin, Texas-based musician will bring along Music City up-and-comers Kameron Marlowe and Laci Kaye Booth at a 7:30 p.m. Friday show at the Tyson Events Center, 401 Gordon Drive.

Poppin' fresh!

In case you were wondering, "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" has 34 letters, contains 14 syllables and is actually an entry in many dictionaries. We're guessing the kid cast from "Mary Poppins Jr.," -- being performed now through Sunday at the Sioux City Community Theatre, 1401 Riverside Blvd. -- have committed the song to memory. Or we hope they have.

Blackboard Jungle?

What's the difference between school teachers and standup comics? In the case of "Bored Teachers: The Struggle is Real," the cast members are one and the same. Hear the funny side of these real-life educators when their comedy tour comes to the Orpheum Theatre, 528 Pierce St., at 7:30 pm. Thursday. Will you get detention if you don't laugh. Yeah, probably.

Trunk-or-Treat enthusiasts will probably enjoy Halloween at the Roundhouse, taking place Oct. 18 and 19 for goblins of all ages. In addition to snagging treats, visitors can participate in family-friendly activities, go on haunted train rides and, maybe, even purchase something from a vendor or two.

The Sioux City Railroad Museum will also feature the "Night Shift," a murder mystery hosted by Siouxland GO and Lamb Theater, a masquerade ball and a "zombie prom."

In the daylight, the Sioux City Railroad Museum is a perfectly pleasant place to visit. But the moment the sun sets, the 3400 Sioux River Road property turns into a creepy Fall-O-Ween Spookfest where there is something terrifying hiding behind every railcar.
