Matt Fockler's journey from prejudice to understanding is a testament to the power of music to reshape minds. Growing up with a skewed perspective, he spent years living on a reservation, confronting and dismantling his own biases.

His friendship with someone who lived through the harsh realities of racial tension, incarceration, and personal transformation, reveals a world where alcohol isn't the problem, but a symptom of deeper issues.

Matt's story is a reminder that the narratives we grow up with aren't set in stone. Through songwriting, he's found a way to process and share the complexities of human experience, challenging us to question our own ingrained beliefs.

How has music challenged your perspective on the world?

We had the pleasure of chatting with Tyler Bills, a musician who's had his best year yet while mostly staying local. In an industry that often glorifies the relentless tour grind, Tyler's approach feels downright revolutionary. He's been able to play the shows he's always dreamed of while keeping the travel to a minimum—and that means more time with family.

And let's not forget his accomplishment of releasing his first acoustic EP on July 4th, a milestone he never envisioned hitting. But perhaps most intriguing is Tyler's commitment to supporting the music community by attending songwriters festivals, whether he's performing or not. It’s a testament to the kind of artist who values connection over competition.

Is it time we reconsider what "making it" in the music industry really looks like? Tyler's story challenges the narrative that success requires constant hustle and globe-trotting. Maybe, just maybe, staying local isn't just a viable path—it's an enlightened one.

Have you considered the benefits of staying local in your own career?

Remember when MTV was the ultimate launchpad for musicians? Those days are long gone, and Bubba Startz knows it. In a recent episode of The Scene Projects, Bubba laid it out: "There isn't an outlet like MTV anymore. We don't have a big break for us out there."

Instead of lamenting the loss, Bubba is stepping up. His podcast network, The Scene Projects, is filling the void, offering a platform to independent artists through over 300 interviews. Bubba's dedication is unwavering, producing two episodes a week and even expanding to Roku.

It's a grind, but Bubba believes in the power of connections and consistency. "It's working," he says. "It's just making as many connections as you can and sticking with it."

The Midwest Country Music Organization awarded him Content Creator of the Year, but for Bubba, that's just the beginning. "I felt like I had to earn it this year, so I went even harder," he admits.

Is the music industry missing its MTV? Maybe. But with creators like Bubba, who needs it?
