Be honest. When was the last time you walked through the mall without a specific reason?
Not to grab one thing. Not to kill ten minutes. I mean really walked it.
For a lot of us, the mall used to be the place.
It was where you met your friends. Where you bought school clothes. Where you got pretzels, wandered around, and somehow spent two hours doing almost nothing.
You didn’t need a plan. The mall was the plan.
Now it feels different.
Some stores are still there. People still go. But the energy has changed.
Maybe online shopping did it. Maybe our habits changed. Maybe we all got busier.
Or maybe the mall was never really about shopping in the first place.
Maybe it was about having a place to be. A place to run into people. A place for teenagers to feel independent. A place for families to spend a Saturday afternoon without overthinking it.
So here’s the real question.
Do you miss the mall?
Or are you fine with shopping from your couch and skipping the whole thing?
